Odd HD Question

Do you absolutely positively have to have a 5 LNB dish?

Also, do I have to replace my dish or can I just buy the receiver for HD? If so, why?

I currently have a R15 and a SD receiver (not sure of mod number) and I just want to replace the receives and not the dish.

HD will work with the 3lnb but you wont get your HD locals with it also once everything converts to Mpeg4 I believe you will have to get the 5lnb

What kind of dish do you have now? If it's a single LNB, it can only receive SD channels on 101. A 3 LNB dish can receive this plus several national HD channels on 110 and 119. The 5 LNB dish receives all of these plus HD locals and RSNs on 99 and/or 103. Sometime next year there will be many more HD channels (local and national) at these orbital locations.

The HD receivers (H20 and HR20) can receive all of these plus OTA HD locals via an antenna.

The choice is yours.

If you call D* and order the HD receiver, it will come with the dish anyways...just a part of the standard install...
