Just ordered the enhanced module for the 6000

Well, I just got off the phone with Dish and ordered the enhanced module along with the 1 year subscription to Discovery HD. I've been dragging my feet mainly because I wasn't sure about doing it.

Here is what I figured: With the enhanced module, it might raise the selling price of my 6000 so if I should decide to upgrade to the 921, it will give me some extra cash to help pay for the 921. Also, if and when I do get the 921, I will still have Discovery HD so really I have nothing to lose.

Any helpful tips from anyone who has installed the enhanced module? I glanced at the instructions and it doesn't look too hard.

It wasnt hard at all, ,took me under a min to get it installed.

Of course now that I got it, I never watch Discovery HD, its all repeats. :(

Installation tips:

Unscrew screws
Remove Cover
Insert Module
Screw in screws
Plug in, turn on and watch.

That's all there is to it! :D

I am going to have to hold off untill later. $98.00 for 1 channel is a little steep for me.

I hope they come up with a better deal when they add (I hope) additional programming.

I would like Dish to offer a HDTV package. I'd drop the regular premium features (HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc.) in favor of a HDTV package.

I think thats the reason they DONT have a HD package so that people don't drop more expensive packages for a cheeper one. :D

Has the Discovery HD channel started broadcasting on the new standard? I don't see it listed on the 6000 channel listing? Will it show up when I install the module?

Yes - it'll only be there if you have the module installed.

Received the module yesterday and installed. Like you said, VERY easy. Dish even gave me an $8 discount on the Discovery HD programming.

I'm pretty pleased and look forward to more HD channels coming online.
