I'm interested in getting the latest update for HR20 (the one enabling OTA and networking), I live in Detroit Metro area, and update hasn't made it's way out to me. What do I have to do on the DVR to force the update ? I remember someone posting instructions a while back, but I can't find them now.

Thanks,
Chris

Use the red reset button.
At the 1st "Welcome" screen slowly type in 02468.

However, the 108 download that was available during a short window last night is not available at the moment.

You can also do it from inside the menus:

Menu > Help and Settings > Setup > Reset

Choose the first option: Reset Recorder

When the first BLUE screen shows up, punch in 02468 on the remote and you should get a message telling you it found an update (if you didn't do it last night, you won't get 108)...let it proceed ...be very patient...the whole process can take 20 minutes.

At this point, you'll have to wait for the full release or another "Santa" episode.

You can force an update, but don't you have to be authorized for the receiver to actually install it?

Actually, I consider it the 2nd Blue screen. IIRC, first there's a blue screen with a message that says the recorder is starting, then there's a message that says "Welcome...". In my experience, you have to wait for the "Welcome..." message to appear before entering 02468. Otherwise, no workee.
