Does the fielding glove have to be black or brown? Can you wear a different color glove such as purple, green, or orange?

As I understand it, you can wear any color glove you choose. The only restriction is that a pitcher's glove must be consist of only a single color.

Right, some dodger pitchers wear blue.
Jose MEsa of the Phils uses a blue glove fro road games (I think it's from his Seattle days) and for home games it think it's red (or maybe it's 'natural,' but it's not blue).

I forgot, when Jose Mesa was with the Indians he used a red glove.

And he used a gun, too, IIRC, John ;)

Mesa did get in trouble while in Cleveland, I thought it had something to do with sex with a minor........*sheeesh* Where's my memory at today...........
I think I remember, he was pulled over and he was carrying a handgun????????

IIRC, he was charged with rape, gross indecency, and other similar charges against two women (not minors). He was acquitted.
The gun was found in his car in the Flats. The possession charges were separated from the other charges, and the court ruled that the search violated his Fourth Amendment rights. It went to the Supreme Court after that, and I'm not sure what happened.

Pedro M. frequently uses a black glove with red stitching. He does sometimes get called on it and has to switch out gloves. Seems like a strange rule to me, especially if it only applies to the pitcher.
