Has anyone else noticed that some remote control features, slow motion for instance, do not function after the remote has been set to RF mode?

Options that require you to hold the button for some period of time (3 secs or more) do not seem to operate the same from an RF remote as they do from an IR configured remote.

you did purchase an optional rf attenna right?

Nope, the RF remote works just fine when changing channels, navigating menus, and all other functions that do not require a press & hold event.

The only functions that do not seem to operate as they did before switching the remote from IR to RF are ones that require you to press and hold a remote button.

HR20 does not need an antenna, it's built in.

Press and hold to go to the end of a recording from the 30 second skip button, or press and hold the 6 second rewind button and jump to the beginning of a recording work for me using RF on my HR20. I've never tried slow motion so far, so I can't comment on that one.

Mine seems to work fine for speed control.

My remote does seems to have a key 'debounce' issue. When changing channels I often get multiple repeat of numbers causing incorrect channel request.

Attempting 75, bounces out 775. I have to do a very quick key hit to keep it from bouncing out repeats.

I too have seen the keybounce issue when in RF mode. I wonder if the receiver is still getting the IR signal and responding to it?

When I go back to IR mode, the keybounce issue goes away.

Keybounce issue here also.

After testing again, results show that slow works, but due to the keybounce issue if you do not release just as slow is activated you will immediately be set back to normal speed. Giving the appearance that slow does not work if you hold the play button too long.

3 second start and 6 second end both work but again the keybounce makes the first 2.5/5.5 seconds seem erratic.

So I think the issue is more of a keybounce issue.

(please excuse me for posting this in 2 threads that seemed relevant, but)

Does anyone else also have an existing RF remote they are trying to use with the HR20?

I have an MX 950 RF remote with base station near the HR20. I have an IR flasher assigned to the HR20 running from the RF base station. I have succesfully switched the D* remote from RF and IR and back again. I noticed that when the D* remote is in RF mode, I can no longer control the HR20 from the MX 950. It appears that when the D* remote is in RF mode, in addition to switching the remote to work via RF, it also turns off the IR "eye" or receiver on the front of the HR20 that can receive IR signals. This means that I can either control the HR 20 from my MX 950 or the D* remote via RF, but not both at the same time. I wonder if this is by design or whether this is something that can be configured in the HR20?

I could really benefit from being able to use BOTH the D* remote in RF mode as well as use the MX 950 as an RF remote at the same time because I currently have 3 TVs that use the same HR20 as their receiver. (My HT room projector via HDMI, my family room plasma via component, and my kitchen TV via RCA).

p.s. I also experience the keybounce issue and the lack of press and hold in RF mode. I am trying to program the MX 950 to allow press and hold for the certain keys that need it.

Your MX950 (great remote, BTW) will only control an HR20 when it is set to IR mode. It would be nice to be able to have RF and IR work simultaneously, but at least currently it appears that the HR20 can only be set for one or the other.

Thanks for the props on the MX950 - I've been very happy with it and am so glad I programmed it myself since I keep adding equipment like the HR20!

Would turning on IR and RF at the same time be something to add to the wishlist poll that is up and going?
