Does anyone know what Echostar will gain by winning this battle. They have been told to cutoff distant network feeds to inelegible sub, then they lease one of there transponders to another provider of distant network feeds, trying to work around the injuction. If they win then D* could legally do the same thing so what do they gain? Getting those distant feeds may be the only reason some Dish subs stay with them. If they could get the same thing on D* they may switch.

Part of the problem is that E* lost the ability to provide DNS to truly eligible subs. That is the purpose of leasing the transponder to (can't think of name).

Plus it probably makes Charlie feel good knowing even though he lost, he won.

This topic was covered pretty exhaustively about a month ago. Search for Dish DNS and pay particular attention to the messages that mention NPS.

DirecTV was ready to receive those who are fleeing Dish, but they don't seem to be beating a path.
