Bay Area KRON 4.2 as DirecTV HD Local for Last Week

Am I the only one who receives KRON 4-2 San Francisco on the HD MPEG-4 local channel?

Is it just my HR20 that is screwed up?

Are you sure you're getting 4-2? The programming I see on KRON via MPEG-4 is actually what they send out OTA on 4-1 -- which is to say, it's not the same "main" channel as analog Channel 4. Essentially, KRON is backwards -- 4-2 carries the "regular" programs, and 4-1 carries what would normally be on a subchannel -- except that it is all HD.

The biggest problem is that the DirecTV guide shows the same program listings for the MPEG-4 local feed as it does for "SF4," but they are not the same.

I agree the guide shows both the HD (KRON4) and the SD (SF4) is the same but the programing is different. The guide data for "KRON4" (MPEG-4 HD) is for 4-1 but it is showing 4-2.

I see no reversal as you describe. My Sharp TV tuner and my OTA tuner in the HR20 both see the regular programing on 4-1 and mostly fluffy filler HD content on 4-2. That's now - mid afteroon.

Ah, OK, I could be mistaken about what KRON is transmitting on their OTA channel. So you're saying that if you look at 4-1 OTA, you get the "regular" KRON programming, but OTA 4-2 is carrying the "HD fluff?"

If that's the case, then I'm sure they intend for DirecTV to carry 4-2 on their MPEG-4 tier, as that's the only "channel" that has any HD programming. I haven't checked, but when the "My NetworkTV" programming comes on, does it appear on 4-2?

When you think about it, it's kind of strange that KRON is being carried in MPEG-4 at all, since it is not one of the "big four" network stations. They must have greased D*'s palms to get that carried.
