I have gotten so used to using my 501 to watch recorded programs and very much enjoy both the 30 sec fwd skip and 10 sec back skip...but now I constantly get annoyed with my DVD player NOT having these functions.

Anyone know of a DVD player that does have this?
And if not, anyone know any reason WHY this has never been implemented?

Thanks kids, you all rule!!! :righton:

Most of the time, because it hasn't been necessary. There is a chapter skip option on DVD players though.

JVC players don't have a 30 second skip, but they do have a 10 second back-skip (at least my 502SL does).

Since most DVD's don't have commercials, 30-second skip isn't necessary. Use the smooth-scan function instead and speed it up as necessary. Chapter skip also works.

yeah - I know about chapter skip and truly the skip AHEAD is no biggie...but a 10 sec skip back would be great

"what did they just say?" SKIP BACK "oh, alrighty then"

It's just so much quicker...it gives you a few seconds of lead-in to the word(s) you missed and the replays that part of the conversation. I don't see how this is any less valuable on DVD than it is on PVR, cuz PVR you can also RWD but I used the skip back MUCH more frequently

It's a good opportunity for you to beat the market and build one yourself....

I can't remember the make, but I recently read that a DVD player with 10 second skip back is coming.
