I was finally able to get the HR20's Music & Photos option to show up in the menu, utilizing either cat5 hardwiring or the powerline ethernet adapters - for some reason, I couldn't get any wireless adapters to work.
But right now the HR20 is only able to see Twonky as a media server, and not WMP11 on my Windows XP PC (Media Center Edition). I've uninstalled and reinstalled WMP11 a few times now to no avail. To continue using Twonky, I'll need to pony up $20 for the non-trial version. That's not a bad price, but I'd like to continue to look at possible free options.
So... I've read different threads where it *might* be possible to install the Viiv software on a non-Viiv PC - can this actually be done? And if so, can the Viiv software be downloaded and installed on a non-Viiv PC without a prior version? If this is possible, I'd appreciate any tips, links or advice on the procedure for this.
If the Viiv software is not an option for my PC, are there any other free alternative media server software solutions available? Thanks in advance for any info! :)
