New to this forum. Just installed (yesterday) an HR20-700 and have been having a problem with the unit locking up when I pause live TV. I can't resume play, index forward or index backward. Changing channels will unlock it, but then I lose what I was trying to playback. Was wondering if this might be caused by the HDMI cable?

When I spoke with the tech at DirecTV (had a problem with a "Mode not supported" message for my HDMI connection during set-up) he said that they had been having "compatiblity" issues with the HDMI cable, but that the latest software update (which I have), should resolve them. Just wondering if this might be one of the "issues" they were/are having...

Just out of curiosity, do you have the band converters installed with your unit?

Please see my recent post. No guarantees at all, but so far so good for me. I just had a recent install too.

Not sure which recent post you mean...

Are you saying I should install the band converters?

Tried it, but don't really know if helped. Noticed that the locking up only seems to happen with HD channels. Don't remember noticing if I was having the problem with non-HD channels or not.

Did find on HR20 Tips and Tricks that the HDMI output does cause display and lockup problems for some users. Solution = component cable hook-up.

Anyway, thanks for your responses and suggestions. Good luck with your new receiver.
