I've got a 721 with a Dish 500 / Twin DishPro LNBF. This coming Saturday EchoStar is coming by to install my "free" additional dish to get the locals on the 61.5 satellite. Does anyone care to guess if they're going to install a single SW34 or two SW21s ?
Sure would appreciate a SW34 as it makes it easy to add that extra receiver I've been thinking about....
Unless they swap out the DishPro, you should get a DP34 as there are no DP21s available. Regular SW21s won't work with a DishPro LNB. I don't know if DP21s
are even planned for.

I got the impression from this installation link (from the echostar site):
http://www.dishnetwork.com/downloads/pdf/technology/installation/install-4.pdf
that they could install with two SW21s and a 300 dual.
Did they make a 500 twin that was NOT DishPro?

Yup. That and a Dual on the 300 dish will let you send 3 sats to two receivers with 2 SW21s. But they won't swap out your DishPro Twin, they'll probably do a DP34 as drjake suggested.

Just realized - since your 721 has two tuners, you have three receivers, so there's no way they would downgrade you to Legacy LNBs and switches. They'd need a SW64 plus the LNBs, and this is a way too expensive approach. You'll definitely get a DishPro LNB on the new dish and a DP34 switch.

So the correct answer is....
They wanted to swap out my DP Twin LNBF with a legacy Twin LNBF and use two SW21s.
I was unhappy with this and told them that I would prefer a DP34 setup with my existing DishPro LNBF. They told me they didn't have any DP34s on the truck so they would have to come back next week. We'll see what happens then.
That's interesting. Sounds like the installers are at the far end of the pipeline that's filling with DP gear. It's understandable that they would want to use up their existing legacy stuff, but annoying that they would propose to downgrade you.
If they didn't have a DP34, they may also not have the DP dual LNB that the dish for 61.5 will need.

Actually with Dish Pro technology only a single LNBF is needed for the 61.5. Only one cable runs from the 61.5 dish to the DP-34 switch, from the switch upto 4 receivers can be run then another 2 DP-34 switches can be run off the first DP-34 switch. Isn't this new technology simple?

From what I've read here, the check switch on a legacy Twin from the 721 takes forever and a day... They can swap out my dishpro twin for a legacy twin over my dead body =)

Oops, you're right, I forgot how the DishPro technology simplified things that much. Now both polarizations are carried over the same wire, so no more dual-output LNBs with the DP34!
