Hi, there. I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina where i' ve dtv's services. I've tried moving the place of installation of the dish to several places in the sorroundings of my original area (Buenos aires D.F.) as most 50-60 miles from there with any inconvenient with the hooking up and else. But, the last years i've tried a farther placement of installation in ocasion of my holydayas. The first time, i tried to use a compass to determinate the right orientation of the dish, then, i realized that some channels were missed...i supossed, that it was due an orientation problem or becouse the LNB. So i bought a channels master satellite tracker and a couple of aditional LNB's. Well, what i can say is that i get signal faster tha with the compass, but i have the same problem as the last time: some channels are missed...and i don't know why...i have signal only in the transponder 12 to 6..what i know is that each transponder transmits several channels..and, the problem should be that i don't see the channels which are transmitted by the transponder from i can't get signal. Y find signals with the satellite tracker from many orientations, but i don't get any signal in any transponder (not even the 12 to 6). And, what is curious is that when i get signal in those transponder (12-6) the elevation of the dish (41) is different from the one indicated in the info of the DB (29), and when i move down the dish to the indicated elevation, the satellite tracker shows a signal, and a strong one, but the metter of the DB don't show any signal in any transponder....

Please, i'm just an amateur in the whole stuff of DBs, and i need in this moment a hand, i'm stuck whit this problem for several years, and i getting more and more frustrated. Any idea abt what i'm doing wrong, or if there is a physical impediment with the orientation due the differente latitude, the LNb or whatever..???

THXss!!!

What do you mean when you say that "some channels are missed"? Are you trying to get the channels listed on LyngSat for South American longitudes? www.lyngsat.com

The problem is that, many channels listed on the package service's bought to my dtv's local operator can't be watched. For Example, FOX is in channel #204, when i tune this channel, it appears the info band on top of the screenn which says the channel and gives info related with the programming, but the screen is black, and is continuosly switching between this info band on top and the classic mesagge of "searching for signal" in the low side of the screen. And this happens to many other channels, which i can see when i'm in the sorroundings of Buenos Aires where i hired this service, but now, i'm away from there arround 1100 miles, in florianopolis Brazil, and i'm experimenting this problem with at least 50-60% of the channels originally hired whith my local dtv operator in buenos aires.

Sounds like you ought to contact DirecTV Argentina for technical support. http://www.directv.com.ar/ Or DirecTV Latin America http://www.directvla.com/

In general, if you're not where your subscription was set up, it's possible that the beam is weaker or doesn't reach where you are. I couldn't find a good beam map for DirecTV Latin America, but it might look like this one: http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/pas3r_amh1.html where Buenos Aires is in good shape but northern Brazil is much weaker.

Yeah, well, actually i'm in southern Brazil and according to that map, the gain and the size needed are the same for Buenos Aires and Florianopolis, however, i'm using a 60cm dish instead one of 100-130, and i'm buenos aires works ok, actually, the 90's cm dish are the size provided by the dtv local operator...They won't give me any support as this is not an obligation, becouse i'm quite out from the area covered by their service, also, is a different country...I'm totally stuck whith this, i supossed that the problem was of orientation, and it shoul be solve with the channel master satellite tracker, but it seems it wasn't enough, there should be a different problem...
Anyway, is there any post related to the same problem, or people experienced in this sort of problems? where i cam ask for it?
thx for your time dude!!!
