HR20 hates Jack Bauer! [Archive]

My stinking HR20 restarted 4 times(!) while trying to watch recording of 24.

I have the new 115 software; while fast forwarding through commercials, the pic would go black, then the "welcome to directv" screen would appear.

Like I told retention last week, I just want to turn on my TV and watch programs. I have a closet full of SONY, HUGHES and RCA boxes that never gave me headaches.

the R15 and H20 and HR20 have been nothing but trouble.

As reported in the multiple 0x115 threads...

There is a bug in the system, that causes the unit to spontaneous reboot during trickplay motions.

There was the 0x119 release that came out over the weekend (Was available Saturday night), for forced download (which you did to get your 0x115).

You also had the option to go back to 0x10b before the weekend too.

So it has nothing to do with the it not liking "Jack Bauer", but you got hit with an identified bug in the Release Candidate 0x115, that was corrected in 0x119

CTS would never approve of such a device in their headquarters. maybe marshall from alias can fix it.

Earl any ideal when the 0x119 will go nationwide or is there still a lot of quirks to be worked out. Just wondering, I missed the 2 open windows for the forced download.From what I hear kind of glad I did from all the issues that have surfaced since.

They are discussing it now.... I don't know it's status if it is going to go national or not.

Ahhh.. Ya gotta love being Beta testers paying for service and hardware.
D* has some very serious issues from CS to Hardware and just plain business focus. It's no wonder they moved everyone into a 2 year commit. Trap'em and force them to put up with the issues that are now a reality.

I've got the two new episodes of 24 recorded, but haven't attempted to watch them yet. I did the 0x115 download, but haven't watched too much recorded programming. I did however notice that 3/4 of the way thru the Eagles/Saints Game - during a FFW action, the unit rebooted. I thought I hit a weird combination of buttons to make it do that, but perhaps not. When I tried to return to the same point in the game, I got the Keep or Delete option.

My question is, should I force a download to 0x10b? And will that eliminate the problem? I really wasn't having any trouble with that version, but couldn't resist the chance to download something new....If only that same enthusiasm was with me this weekend - and I could have got 0x119...

Wow. I'm glad I missed the 115 download. Still got 10b and both episodes recorded and played back flawlessly.
