Problem with Remote

I had a second DirecTV box installed at my house last week. It was a standard DirecTV boc with their standard issue remote.

I have been unable to get the remote to work the brand new Magnivox TV it is supposed to operate. I have tried all the steps in the guide that came with the box and it still wont work.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

The remote control model (or at least the receiver model that it came with) and what TV model number (ie 32MF231D) would be a bare minimum. If it is a TV/player combo unit, don't get your hopes up.

You might also try going the other way and controlling the receiver with the TV remote.
