When the hard drive in my HDVR2 croaked, I allowed DirecTV to send me an R-15 as a "replacement". After about a month, I realized that that was a piece of junk and decided to put a new hard drive in my HDVR2 and just move the R-15 to the bedroom in place of the old non-DVR receiver there. At least you can pause and rewind the darned thing. So that's what I did. I've got the DTivo in the main media room and the R-15 in the bedroom. I'm happy.
Then I got my first bill. They are charging me two $5.99 DVR fees. So I called and talked to a ditsy CSR who assured me that because the R-15 and DTivo use different serivces, if I have one type of each receiver, I have to pay the fee twice. Is that for real? It's always been one DVR fee for however many DVRs you have. After being put back on hold and waiting 45 minutes to speak to someone else, I finally gave up and hung up.
But before I call back to complain (again), is this really the case, or did I just have a stupid CSR?
