We have a vacation house down at the Jersey shore. We go back and fourth from Philadephia during the summer. If I get a second dish can I take one of our boxes down there and set it up for the family while I have another box in Philadephia house at the same time?

First ::welcome_s to the forum.
If you have a second receiver & dish, you could take it there & set it up yourself.
If you don't & call D* I believe you would need to pay [not the $5/month] for a second subscription as it would be what they call a "second location".

You may not (probably won't) get your local channels due to spot beam coverage limitations, but otherwise it should work.

Ethically, if you are only watching at one of the locations at any given time, you are probably within the "spirit" of the law.

Since this forum is for "hacking", you might have to read between... [the posts].:)

You know there are RV's with DirecTV, that aren't in the same location all of the time, but it's the same viewer all of the time.

Philly and South Jersey are close enough to each other that the spot beam probably reaches. He may be in luck.

It sounds like all you need is a dish out at the shore for the summer.:D

If you are in Cape May or Atlantic Counties, you're in the Philly market. If you're in Ocean or Monmouth Counties, you're in the NYC market. However, the spot beam for Philly (off the 101) covers most of NJ, IIRC.
