I joined DirecTv a year ago, received an R15-500 & it has worked well. Would like to download reordings to PC. Research here & Tivo forum shows no hacking or upgrade possible for R15. At Dishrip forum they are moving the harddrive to the outside of DVR case, even using the removeable harddrive cases or an external harddrive case. Linux seems to always be the operating sys. MY Question:

What OS does R15 use & what is the format of the recordings(.tsp)

As far as anyone can tell the R15 runs on a home grown OS. I think Wolffpack had his drive sitting outside the DVR in an external case for a while. Just do a search and you should be able to find the thread.
