Life on the bleeding edge of technology is always exciting.

Perhaps this thread could be moved to the General Discussion forum.
I got Fios internet installed 2 weeks before they told the rest of the town it was available. I discovered the availability quite by accident when I was having problems with my local landline and they told me that it was taking a long time to get technicians deployed because spo many had been switched to fiber.
I made the comment "Well, fiber isn't available in my neighborhood yet". The rep replied - "According to my screen here, yes it is".
A few days later, I had Fios up and running after a flawless installation with no pain whatsoever.
I'm guessing that it might have been more difficult to get an install time after the point, 2 weeks later, when Verizon sent out letters via UPS 2-day to everyone around that Fios internet was now available.
I had Fios Internet installed last Friday. I hope to get TV installed this month.
I signed up for Internet Service installation on the website by punching my
phone number in and the installation went smoothly. My old cable internet
was 7/1 speed for $47.95 per month. Fios is 10/2 speed for $39.95 a month.
My cable company offered me a two year commitment for $29.95 a month as
long as I kept my cable TV subscription. However, Verizon Fios TV has Comcast
Sportsnet Philadelphia HD in my area, which we have never had, and my
cable company does not have offer it. So I told the cable company that I am not
interested in staying for $29.95 a month.
I'm in NH too djlong and have FiOS also. Enjoy while you have it as it's "supposedly" going away next year:

The best line of the entire article: "But that's like saying that once you've"amputated your own feet, giving yourself a pedicure is a breeze.
Can you get the FIOS Internet w/o subscribing to the TV?
If so, are there any Verizon FIOS deals for Dish customers?
FIOS isn't in my area yet and I currently can't even get DSL.

Ilike the fact that Verizon picked on the wrong person to slight for service, a writer for the areas largest news paper. In the same issue Verizon has a full page color ad for FIOS service.
For the Dallas market FIOS TV is being offered at $37.99 and FIOS Internet is $39.99 for 5/2.:)
I have a hard time believing that, after all the money spent stringing fiber all over southern NH and elsewhere that it'll just be abandoned.
Every reputable article I've read says that Verizon is selling their *copper* - this is the first article anywhere that has mentioned Fios. Verizon is making a $20B bet on fiber and I can't see them walking away from the huge inestment they've made.
I mean - think about it.. All that fiber all over New Hampshires's most densely populated area, closest to Boston. To just let it rot on the vine when you have all that infrastructure in place?
I would have found it much more believable that Fios up here might get spun off, but again there's no mention of that. They talk about broadband DSL (copper) in other articles, landlines (copper) and other switching assets (copper).
There's no way that a 9-figure investment around here is going to go dark. Besides, Verizon pulled my copper so I have no backup and you can bet the PUC (Public Utilities Commission) wouldn't let them get away with leaving me and all the other Fios subscribers with no phone access at all.
