On the HR20, there are 2 inputs for each cable so that you get the 2 tuners, right?
A friend of mine in the Nutmeg State has a DVR through Cablevision and he only has 1 line come into the DVR, but he gets 2 signals (and the box actually makes a PIP for him since his TV doesn't have that function). Why is it that the cable DVR doesn't need 2 separate lines?

Different manufacturers.

because half of each tuner (the first if stage) is in the dish...
Cable doesnt need seperate lines for anything. You can have several sets off one cable line coming into the house, unlike satellite where you nee a seperate line for each box. so for a sat dvr you need 2 lines

Damn you logical people! Why couldn't you say, "great point, Godfather...you don't need that 2nd line after all!"
Guess I'll still be cutting holes in my walls to try to snake the 2nd line up to the bedroom after all.

I could say that, but I would not lie to the Godfather. ;)
If you can wait a bit, the FTM module (discussed elsewhere on the forum) will allow you to use dual tuners on a single line. Supposedly more info on its availability will be coming "soon."
