View Full Version : B Band Convertor Question
Hi. I have the HR-20 with those two B Band Converter's hooked up. Do those B Band Converter's make the HD and analog signal degrade since you would have RG6 cables going into the converter's and the RG6 cables coming out of the converter into the HR-20? I understand that you have to have those conventers hooked up when the activate those two new satellites this year in order to receive the signals from them is that right? Thanks, Craig.

No, those B-Band Converters should not degrade anything. But there have been reports of some defective ones causing problems.
And you're right, you don't really need them connected until the new Ka-band satellites are activated in a few months.

Welcome to the forums, CraigM! :welcome_s
Several wise people have suggested that you leave them on so you: 1) don't lose them, and 2) test them. When the new HD gets turned up, there will be a rush of people who suddenly want their BBCs and can't find them...perhaps causing a shortage...
Cheers,
Tom
Thanks for the info guys. That's what I thought about them that you needed them for when the new sats get activated.

If you have a defective b band converter, does DirecTv ship a new one or will they send a Tech instead to look at your setup?

Interesting thread. I was going through the HR20 box and noticed these B band converters. I had no idea what they were. Can you guys tell me how to install them. The look like they go on the feed right before the box. Is this correct?

You screw them right into inputs 1 & 2 on the HR20, and then screw the inputs from the wall into them. Just as you must have assumed:D

Anyone know what will be on the Ka-band sats?
