I don't know how much longer I can justify spening $115 per month on a receiver that is having so many issues. DTV has stated their position and that the 2 yr contract is for programming, but the cheapest they have is $29 bucks per month. So I am starting to think....$200 is sounding like an acceptable loss. I have waited over 4 months for the "fix all issues miracle upgrade", that means I would have spent about $120 plus 3 extra receivers would have made it around $180. So at my current rate, I have already long since paid the $200 in four months.

Question is, should I throw in the towel or wait? Based on the feedback, I am not getting the warm and fuzzies about the new software release. Seems like DTV is up to their old tricks, fix some issues and creating others. As I stated to DTV, I like their service just not the equipment. Strange that they do not listen unless you throw a fit. I was pondering suspending my account and switching to see if the grass was greener. I called and you can suspend up to 9 months, hmmm.

Customer Service is sadly becoming a thing our past. I would gladly pay more for service and a product that works as advertised.

OK, rant is over for now............

I would wait for the new software (seems good on my system) maybe it will fix your problems, if it doesn't you can always send it back and buy a tivo. I have both and my R15 is okay for a bedroom unit but I like the tivo as main dvr.

I am not an attorney and not qualified to give legal advice.

With that being said…You entered into a contract with DirecTV. They agreed to provide, at a reduced rate, a DVR that would perform as per the advertisement on their website. You agreed to remain a DirecTV customer for a period of two years. Obviously, they have breached this contract. They cannot refuse to honor their end of the contract, yet insist that you honor yours.

This argument worked for me. It took several phone calls and a call back from a supervisor, but it worked.
