The 48” Sony SD rear projection TV in the living room is suffering from massive burn in from QVC. The vertical information bar is burned in, along with the horizontal bar and the 1-800 # is clear as day. The TV isn’t that old, it was purchased in December of ’99. Today we went to Best Buy and my Mother picked out the Sony Grand Wega 55” RP LCD TV. Essentially the same TV as my 42”, but the new model and 13” bigger. It arrives Friday, tomorrow before work I’m going to the cable office to swap out the SD DVR for an HD DVR. While I'm jealous I will no longer have the best TV in the house I can't wait to watch the Super Bowl on this thing :) and hopefully in May, the Sabres in the Stanley Cup. :D

Congrats to both of you, Steve, but good luck trying to pry the remote
from Mom's hands. IIRC, QVC is on-air even during the Superbowl. :lol:

Steve, was the old one a RP CRT rather than LCD, I'm assuming? (Technology would have been too new in '99 I'm guessing.)

Yep the current TV is a CRT RP. Swapped out the boxes today, first time I ever watched HD programming on an SD set, didn't look too bad. Although the lady at the cable office scewed up, she didn't authorize the new DVR for the HD Tier.
