Weird... something odd is going on with Amazon right now.
As I am getting a different price, each time...
I am getting the $157.26
And heck... if you apply for the credit card... you get it 97.26 after rebate.

Ugh, as it would happen, I have an 880 on my desk (programming it for my Boss's Son's Entertainment system - yeah, must be nice.)
Anyways, the button locations suck for us. I was going to snag it and let him have an 659. Right now, I've been happiest with the 680 or the new 670.
Maybe I'm cheap, but I can't get over the phychological barrier of paying so much for a remote control.:p

that $30 rebate for the credit card applies to ANY purcahse not just this. Not really fair to include it in the calculations.
I see the rebate, it is from Logitech. I can't believe I purchased this remote on 1/20 (from Amazon) and it is NOT eligible for the rebate.

I have an 880 from amazon that's going back.
usability is VERY poor. no human factors design (that I can witness) in this unit ;(
typical matrix of buttons with no thought to how the hand will move from button to button. ie, its not a tivo remote (sigh).
useless lcd display that costs money and gets you very little actual functionality. adds weight and size and gives little back for it.
I had hopes for this guy. but its going back. only took a few days to know this (heh - just like my hr20 - only a few days to know it was a lemon by design).
I might go back to my ipaq 'pocket pc' since it as full ability to assign lcd labels to soft buttons and also does have consumer IR 'strength'. and its smaller, too. and does more ;)
I think the curvy flashy buttons along the lcd are the worst, though, on the 880. PURE looks but not very usable at all. and no tactiles to really navigate using the remote in the dark.
if you can't use an IR remote 'by feel' I think its mostly useless.

Maybe I'm cheap, but I can't get over the phychological barrier of paying so much for a remote control.:pI'm with you. I have the HR20 remote set for my TV and DVD player and it does the basic functions, so I have no need.
And in 3...2...1... someone will come on and say why I need one :D

I'll just say that I've had one for more than year. I liked it so much, I bought a second. I had a Pronto back in the day that ended up in the drawer because it was too hard to program. I found the 880 to be the closest I've seen to the Tivo remotes (which I consider the Gold standard), and incredibly simple to program.
I have never had a remote where I needed to select components where all the components were found. Until the Harmony, that is... :-)

The only two things I can't do with my HR20 remote is select TV inputs (it displays them and you have to scroll across left to right and select one) or Split Screen.

I have a paper weight, errrrr 880, I'd be willing to part with. Bought new a year ago, and used for probably less than an hour. Just doesn't work for me ergonomically. PM me if interested.

Just a PSA, don't start applying for credits cards up the wazoo just to get a couple bucks off purchases and rebates and whatnot. Your should value your credit rating more than these annoying "get our card and we'll give you $xx off" bullcrap.
The 659 is eligible for the $30.00 rebate as well. I just ordered one for $70.74 after rebate.
Who wants the 880 that has no RF anyways?

3....2....1... lol....Just a big toy that makes life easier. We often switch between tv, xbox (XBMC), DVD, Tape and just cd's. Hitting one button to make all switches is nice rather than having to change the tv input, audio input, find the other remotes. Again...just a nice toy to have.

If you were married, you would appreciate the "spouse proof" activities buttons... almost foolproof for the spouse who doesn't want to screw with all the damn remotes...:)
Best investments I ever made...

So I can't get my 880/890 to work the RBR remote. I have to use the remote that came with the christmas tree power strip...
It's amazing what you can do with a frontpage on a reciept...
I sent an email to Amazon and they gave me a $30 credit since I missed out on the rebate.

Same here, I love mine, this is the first remote I have ever owned where I feel comfortable enough to put the other remotes away rather then leaving them out for one or two functions. The 880 does EVERYTHING and does it well.

I picked up a Harmony 550 the other day from amazon and I'm very impressed. Does everything that I want it to do with my setup. Switching activities is smooth, able to program all the DirecTV remote buttons I need, and no more constant button presses to switch inputs on the tv.
Very slick to switch everything from satellite to my xbox 360 (and turn it on) with one button press.
I want to second all those here who love their Harmony remotes.
I bought the 680 in October, after having a MX-500 remote for several years. I thought that the MX-500 was great remote, but within a few days, I took the batteries our of that remote and retired it. I think that a Harmony remote is to remotes as a DVR is to watching TV. Once you've used one you can't figure out you did without it. And it goes beyond just controlling your TV and your HR20. You can control any IR device you own, especially if you have the original remote. One button turns on all the devices needed for any activity, one button to switch to a different activity, one button to turn everything off. A Harmony keeps track of the state of all of your devices, so if it's on and it's not needed, it turns it off and vice-versa. All of this makes the Spousal Approval Factor extremely high.

Boy, ain't dat da troof!
Everybody and their sister has their own credit card, and they ALL want to put it in your hand! Then, you check your credit rating and see that you have lost 100 points because you have: (1) too many open accounts and (2) too many credit inquiries. It's NOT worth $30!!
As far as I can tell, no RF! It's not even worth $4.00 without RF!

The 890 has RF. 880 is IR only.

Nice, but now we're in a higher rent district. Maybe some of you guys really dig these expensive remotes, but I don't see it. Now, if I was putting $20,000 into a home theater, I might go for a Crestron, but adding RF to the 880 should NOT add $100 to the price.

In my opinion, this remote is the ULTIMATE!!! Everyone is entitled to their opinion of it being overpriced, or why do I need one? But, plain and simple, it does it ALL. I have had mine for over a year and a half, and have not used any of my factory remotes 1 time since! I have every factory button customized in mine for every device, 7 total. My wife pre-ordered me a Harmony 1000 for a XMAS gift, it is still not available, early Feb. is what we are being told.
Quick question on the 880. When you're starting up an activity it doesn't let me press any buttons until the activity is fully started with all the delays (My TV takes a long time to turn on). The problem is when I'm turning on the TV to watch a sports game in the middle I like to press pause and list so I don't see or hear anything I don't want to.
Sidebar:(Don't even get me started with that stupid picture in list on the Hr20. Why would I want to watch live TV when I'm going to the now playing list. Maybe the other areas but not the now playing list. There should be an option to turn that thing off. Plus it takes up valuable space on the screen that could be used to show the full description of shows in the guide and not leave out the important stuff like if the show is new.)
With the 676 I could do this but the 880 doesn't seem to allow any commands until the activity is finished. Is there a way to change this?
