Problems With 311 Receiver

I have been having problems with my 311 receivers lately. Everyday when I turn one on and press "guide" the screen says it has to download the guide. On Turner Classic Movies, the picture frequently freezes up. Today, in the middle of a movie, it said it had lost the satellite signal and had to reaquire it. The sky was clear, and there are no trees or other obstructions in front of the dish. Is anyone else having these problems?

To avoid the download message for the guide turn your receiver off overnight so it can do a download. How long has it been since you did a power button reset?

The receivers in question are off most nights unless I am watching a movie. The problem occurs whether they are on or not. It has been some time since I did a power switch reset. I will give that a try and see what happens. Thanks.

Any thoughts on the picture break up? I wonder if it has anything to do with a new software download?

I also have a 311. And it seems like everytime I turn it on, I have to reset it. It comes on with a blank screen and the guide is there. This box has to be the worst. I also have a VIP211 and a 322 with no issues.
