Could using HDMI between TV and HR20 create issues when a second TV HDMI input is connected to a DVD?
I noticed I had frequent BSODs or freeze-ups when I first got my HR20 and set it up in the configuration above.
Then I replaced the HDMI cable from DVD to TV with component to free the HDMI cable for a different TV.
I don't recall a single glitch during that time.
Recently purchased some additional HDMI cables and have had several occurrences of the above problems since replacing the DVD/TV component cable with the HDMI.
Other factors:
The latest HDMI cable was connected the same time that TV, HR20 and DVD were connected to a UPS.
TV is a Sony KDS-60A2000.
Anyone else see anything like this?
Can anyone offer any explanation in general as to why any HDMI device would function differently if connected to a TV with a second HDMI input also in use?

I do this with my pansonic 50px60u.
I routinely switch between HDMI 1 and HDMI2 with no problems. The 2nd HDMI is a computer.

I was thinking about that when I was troubleshooting my HDMI issue where my HR20 ouputs fine on RGB component and S-Video but when the TV is on HDMI, I get nothing, including the receiver's sound output, so HDMI must be sending some type of signal from the TV, otherwise how would my HR20 even know that my TV is set to HDMI?
However my other box was set up on a TV that was connected using coax and Red/White cables and that box froze up and had MORE problems than my HDMI connected TV.
Reading this forum I don't think there is a consensus of a single driver of these problems. Its just a really poor product that was put out too soon and has way too many glitches. D* should call Tivo to put their software on the HR20 b/c D* should concentrate on what they do well, programming, and leave the hardware to the professionals.

I switch between my HR20 on HDMI1 and my DVD on HDMI2 on my JVC tv all the time with no BSOD or lockups.

Cannot support your theory. I have (2) HDMI's on TV, one to the HR20 and one to the DVD. I have had only a two BSOD since owning (sorry leasing) the HR20 since mid November and (1) freeze up.

I have a Sony SXRD TV with 2 HDMI jacks, one goes to the HR-20 and one goes to a Sony DVP-CX995V 400-disc DVD player, I have had no problems at all with the HR-20.

Two possible theories I can think of.
I believe many of the issues folks are having involves the the HDCP overlay protocol (digital content protection). There is communcation back from the TV to the Hr20 in response to security query.
Other possibility is cross talk between the two port switch in the TV. I had a similar problem with digital audio inputs on a home theater receiver. I had to turn off the satellite receiver w/ digital audio feed when I played the DVD player with its digital audio feed going into second port on home theater audio system. I even try having one optical feed and the other digital coax cable and still had the momentary interruption problem.

I have the same setup with my Panasonic 42px60u and no problems. What resolution is you compute set at?
I have been having mucho problems for the last week or so ( three different HR-20s total!) and I just discovered tonight what is causing the problems and its related to HDMI. I have TWO monitors/HDTVS connected to my single HR-20. One is my main set, which is connected via HDMI and the second set is connected via S-Video. Sometimes when watching something non critical like news or non HD programming I would use the S-Video set only to preserve the life of my main HD set and conserve power consumption. Anyway, here is what I have just discovered : The HR-20 WILL NOT BOOT properly if the HDMI set is not turned on, the HR-20 will just hang up forever in one of the early boot "this will take a few minutes" screens. This was giving me hell as I was sometimes booting using only the S-Video monitor to watch the boot and it would just hang forever, but now I know its related to the HDMI set being on at the time when you boot as my box boots fine EVERYTIME I have the HDMI set on and HANGS EVERYTIME I have the HDMI set turned off. Second issue which was also giving me hell of a time was this - when you playback a pre-recorded show off the playlist, IT WILL NOT PLAY ( black screen ) if the HDMI set is not turned on ( even the S-Video set gets a black screen). YOU MUST have your HDMI set turned on when initiating the playback of a prerecorded show. Heres the kicker though, if you do have the HDMI set on when you start the playback of a recording, the recording will start fine and you can safely turn off the HDMI set and the playback will continue fine (as seen on the s-video output), you only need the HDMI set turned on at the start of the recorded playback. There must be some kind of handshake between the HR-20 and the HDMI on the set that occurs on beginning of playback and if the set doesnt respond, the HR-20 wont play, even on the S-video outputs. I havent done further investigation on this ( I need to find out what happens when a recording ends and goes back to live TV, but I can definately tell you that the HR-20 needs a running HDMI monitor to start playback of a recording if connected
to a HDMI monitor, I am not sure what happens if the HDMI cable is open circuited by a HDMI switch or a second HDMI connection in use on the set, & this may vary from set to set.
