Sure... right now.
The HR20 doesn't "need" a phone line, for anything other then PPV purchase uploads.

If you can live with that... then you are where you want to be.

No, I am not.
Unless you are purchasing the sports supscription via Remote.

It has been a long while since DirecTV actually "enforced" it's land line requirement.

I'm not so worried about inforcement as that would be easy. Cancel my sub.

But I'm an honest sub that has to borrow his neighbors phone system to get his HR10-250 updates. Lately, I have just followed what has been posted before I "plug up" and it seems as if this has worked out for the better. Again, THANKS.

This topic is another thread and I'm not too good at finding them, so thought I'd just quickly comment. Basically, no 1 could come up with a definitive reason why you still need a landline. I have never had a land line connected and have ST, EI, and have ordered at 3 least 3 PPV's from my box. People seem to be a little weary of the fact that you don't need it for the box-ordered PPV (and it's been so long, I could be wrong, although I'm almost positive I didn't hook it up when I ordered). But, even if that's the case, just order it on-line and you're all set.

You would log into your *D* website and order PPV, Calling in by phone they charge a fee. SW updates by Sat.
