SES Americom's 50-state AMC-4 satellite will carry 23 new channels for Comcast
Media Center, bringing the group's total offering of digital video and audio services
to more than 200 channels. The new channels - including 10 NBC Universal feeds,
eight Viacom-owned nets and others - bring to 54 the total number of east and west
coast feeds for cable nets that have been added to CMC's HITS platform of more
than 150 digital video and audio services.

...more good news for Comcast subs:

Comcast is conducting trials of switched digital video in two markets and expects
to deploy services based on the technology in the second half of 2007. Switched
digital video will be the key mechanism to let operators deliver more HD channels.
The move to switched digital video will mean Comcast doesn’t have to plan two or
three years in advance which SD channels they’re going to be dropping to carry HD.

Switched-digital-video systems can deliver channels more efficiently by sending
video streams to a subscriber only when a channel is requested. The rationale is
that not every channel in a switched group will be viewed simultaneously.
