About 12 days ago we had some ice rain, and our LNB's got a pretty good coating, reducing our signal on several transponders to 0, others around 40/50.
Since that time, my HR20 has failed to function with any consistency. If I reboot it many times, eventually I can get into it and get to My Playlist, there I can view shows recorded prior to the dish getting covered. Once I get to that point, I also have access to my OTA signal. After a while of running like this the box will stop responding to the remote...I may get stuck in a trickplay, at any menu or while scrolling in My Playlist, etc...
For the most part, however, it terminally hangs up at "Acquiring Guide Data..." while attempting reboots.
When I posted this previously the responses were "Definitely not a problem with the HR20" and "I think the HR20 should brush the snow off the dish, clean my driveway..." - uh, thanks guys. The point is, is this performance something you're willing to put up with during every heavy storm?
I don't think it is asking too much to expect access to My Playlist and my OTA signal when the dish can't see the birds. That’s the primary reason I have an OTA antenna in the first place.
The painfully observant may note that I mention 0x11b, yes, I was able to download it despite the condition of my dish over the past two weeks. The same condition persisted. I just don't know if DirecTV is aware of how the receiver may handle poor or intermittent signals, but my experience has said that the handling isn't good.
