Hey everyone I have an R15 500 model. WHen I got it, it was a fast dvr. Have had it for like a year. When I hit list sometimes it can take 3-5 seconds to come up on the screen. Scrolling the list also is slow and sluggish, and say when I hit enter on a program so I can get to the screen to play it, it is slow there too. I have like 50% avaialble space. I have tried reboots but that doesn't work. Why is this so slow.
Is there something I can do without losing my programs? I have this in my bedroom. I have Blues Clues and a bunch of BackYardigans on there for my kiddo. I don't want to lose those. I do have a DVD burner but man if I do a total wipe I would have to back up a ton of stuff.

You mean it's supposed to be faster than that? Mine never was, at least not since right after I hooked it up (and right after I did a full reformat).

Yes, mine once was faster also. I'm thinking about swapping my 500 with my lesser-used 100 and see if the speed improves.

Mine's [R15-500] been like that ever since I got it (a bit more than a year ago), too. A few things seem a bit slower since I got 10FA (and, now screensaver does not work, but timemarker in progress bar seems like it might have been fixed)
The R-15 slows the more you use it, the more SL's you have, the more programs you have to watch, etc....
After my reformat my R-15 was fast, I added about 40 SL's, filled up 50% of the space with recordings and now it is clunky.

Maybe so, but I have no SLs and 90% free. I copy movies to DVD as I go.
And it is slow, a lot slower than my 300 or 100 model.

Yup, exactly. I have a -300 and that's my experience. The less you have in My Playlist the faster it loads.
After a reformat it blew me away how much faster it was (guide, list, channel changes, everything). Even now it is faster, but I keep My Playlist as empty as possible.

Hey, what DVD recorder do you recommend?

I just went to Wal-Mart last fall and bought that $98 Magnavox. I really haven't tried anything else, but if it broke today, it worked long enough to record about 200 two-hour movies.

Thanks guys I was just making sure I wasn't the only one LOL!! Slow dang DVR. Anyway I ahve a Sony DVD Recorder that uses DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW. It is good I think it is a GDR-700 not sure on the model # but I think it has 700 in it.
