I am interested in getting the Cricket ticket but don't want to add another sat for the 95 location. However, I always see "Upcoming" Cricket programming on channels 117 and 119 on my current package. Is it possible to view these Cricket matches on 117 and 119 without getting the additional international sat installed? Would I just have to order Cricket ticket? Or can I order each match a la carte live a PPV event?

Thanks in advance.

According to this link, The Cricket Ticket (Channel 117, 118, 119) are on the 101 Sat, so you should be able to get it with your current equipment. I guess you have to call the number on the screen on channel 119 to find out how to subscribe or watch PPV. I dont think you can do on screen ordering for this.

I spent a lot of time on this subject earlier this month when the new year started, as I also did not want the international dish. Here is what I learned.

Some cricket tours are indeed available on channels 117-119, broadcast on the 101 satellite. However, to see them that way, you will have to pay for each tour separately. I tried (Oh man, I tried) to order the season subscription without switching to the international dish, and I got a great supervisor who I believe tried her hardest and she said there was no way. Now, if there are only a handful of tours that you want to see, then I guess it wouldn't matter. But if you are interested in the whole season, it will get pretty expensive, since the season price is about 1/3 of the cost of each tour separately.

Now, the World Cup may be another story. I believe that the last ICC event (the ICC Champions Trophy) in September '06, was not mirrored onto the 101 satellite, so if that precedent holds, perhaps the CWC won't be available either.

Good luck.06, was not mirrored onto the 101 satellite, so if that precedent holds, perhaps the CWC won't be available either.

Good luck.

I am not even certain it is always the 101 that is mapped to these channels (117-119). I was at a relative's house in the Boston DMA this fall. They still had only the 18" dish for the 101 and their receiver said 117-119 were not available, even to get a blank screen with ordering info.

The Cricket Ticket is still a much better deal than Dish's tour-by-tour plan. That's only from a monetary basis. If your team is only on Dish, then your view might be different.

Were they looking at the receiver while the matches were in progress?

If the matches are more than 2-3 days away, and D* is not broadcasting anything else on 117-119, the receiver may well say the channel is unavailable. Older receivers (like my 2000-vintage Hughes E-11), if I recall correctly, say the channels are unavailable unless the broadcast is actually in progress. If your friends "still had only the 18" dish for 101", they may have an older receiver too - and so perhaps get no listing while the matches are not underway. However, if the matches are in progress, the listings and blank screen with ordering info at 117-119 have always come up on my receivers - older and newer. And I've only ever had the 18" or Phase III (Tri-LNB) dishes.

I don't subscribe to the full Cricket Ticket package (I didn't realize until this thread that I could not subscribe to the full package with my current equipment!), but I usually keep my eyes on which channels the other series that I don't watch are being shown. The Champions Trophy was the only series I can recall recently that was not available on 117-119 with a dish pointed at 101. All other CricketTicket series shown Oct-Dec 2006 were available on 117-119/Sat 101.

As for the Cricket World Cup, I've heard from one guy that has been told by D* CSR's that the games will be shown on 117-119 from Sat 101. No intl dish required. If this is true, then as CWC is not part of the Cricket Ticket package anyway, then anybody who wants it should be able to order/watch this.

Of course, I'll wait until Mar 12-13 and see the listings on my receiver before ordering. I was told numerous times before the recent Australia-England series that I would need the intl dish to see those games - which turned out to be untrue once the matches began.

What dish do you hsve currently?

If you only have the single LNB you can just ask the installer to take it down [ and leave only the base ] and put up the int' since that comes with a 101 LNB anyways so you'd only have one dish up.
