I know Alaska locals are on the KA birds, but also that the AT-9 and AU-9 dishes are too small to work up there. What do they use to bring in ALL 5 signals?

Here's the "error" I got when I tried a Douglas, AK address.ALASKA RESIDENTS - TAKE THE FAST TRACK TO DIRECTV® SERVICE: Because of Alaska's unique equipment and programming needs, we've set up a special toll-free telephone number just for you. Just call 1-877-897-8131 to order DIRECTV® service. Thanks!Elsewhere, I found this:HD Programming
For DIRECTV TOTAL CHOICE® programming (along with premium packages and seasonal sports subscriptions) and HD Programming, you will need two (2) 1.2-meter DIRECTV® Dishes.Adding HD is the difference between one dish and two.

I already attempted that lol

So they'd need 5 separate dishes if the wanted to get EVERYTHING? Is there even a multi switch that can accommodate that?

And just where do you find: "you will need two (2) 1.2-meter DIRECTV® Dishes"? I may be a little slow but 1.2 meters sure isn't my AT9 or AU9 reflector size, by a long shot.

The AT9 and the AU9 couldn't pick up the signals in Alaska or Hawaii, they're too small.

Two of them do work in Hawaii, but still my question was what is a 1.2 meter D* dish?

That was the standard for Alaska until they put their locals up on the KA birds, and well you could just throw up 2 more dishes with KA LNBs, there isn't a multiswitch that accepts signals from 5 different birds at once (I don't think).

I guess the answer would have to come from somebody not in the "lower 48".

I'd say you need to contact an installer/dealer in Alaska and they would set you up with what you need. It's obviously possible.

We should stop doing this: same thought, posted at the same time.
