I posted this on another forum but will try it here in order to get some advice: Over the weekend I had a D* installer out to install the new 5lnb dish and the HR-20 in another room (NOT the main room where the HDTiVo is). After the installer disconnected the cables, installed the new dish, then reconnected everything - the HDTivo never reacquired the satellite signal. Not only that, it lost the OTA signal and can re-acquire neither. I can play/view only from the now playing list. i have already done a hard re-set and tried to find the signal. Is there hope for my HR10-250? could it be a compatibility issue with the new dish or the Zinwell 6-8 multiswitch? I am very unhappy with the loss of my HR10-250. I am due a technical visit from D* later this week. These problems are a direct result of the installer being here. Will they make things right? any feedback is much appreciated.

I suspect that the 5LNB dish is misaligned.

I had the same issue when I added the new 5LNB dish and 2 more HR-20 receivers. Fortunately, I kept my old dish installed and just re-attached my HR10-250 to it and it works again. I did notice that the setup for the HR10-250 did not explicitly support the 5LNB dish - it supports 2 or 3LNB. I just assumed this was the problem. Is the 5LNB dish supposed to work for the HR10-250???
I have two HR20s and an HR10, all utilitizing the AT9, with the WB68 switch. The HR10 works perfectly, and the Hr20s all have the same bugs everyone is reporting here.

So, you are connecting the HR10-250 Tivo D* PVR to the 5LNB dish? During setup for the dish on the HR10, what type of dish did you select? There are only two options, 2LNB and 3LNB.
I tried to reconfigure the HR10-250 using the 4LNB dish type and it could not pick up the signal.

The HR10-250 should work fine with the 5 LNB dish. It will simply ignore the two extra LNBs since it can't see them anyway. As far as the receiver is concerned, you only have a 3 LNB setup.
The OP indicated that the HDTivo also lost OTA reception, which is a different issue than dish compatibility. I'd check to see if the installer mucked around with your antenna, assuming you have one installed. Chances are you had the antenna feed connected to the 5th input of your old multiswitch to combine it with the sat feed. The new wideband multiswitches don't support this feature and require that you either run a separate line from the antenna to your receiver or add a diplexer to combine the antenna signal with the sat feed on the outboard leg of the multiswitch.

A few more questions: The HR10 WILL work with the new dish? provided it is aligned properly? (my young installer did struggle getting the new dish aligned, took him over an hour) And why did I lose the OTA tuner? I assume I could re-scan to find local channels; but why did I lose them when I lost the satellite signal? Hmmmm... Thanks for the help.

The AT9 is connected to splitters feeding two wb68 switches. The Hr10-250 has two lines from one of the switches feeding it. Everything works fine. In the set up menu, I select the 3 lnb Dish, because it does not have a selection for a 5 lnb.

The installer may have disconnected your diplexer, if you were using one, because it interferes with the 5 lnb Dish unless you use the diplexer after the switch.

Jal, I'm not using a diplexer. I'm running the antenna cable straight into the HR10 from the pre-amp. The HR10 lost the OTA feed right after it lost the satellite feed. ??

Good thread guys, I have an installer coming today to clean up the mess the first installer left behind last Tuesday. I now have an HR10-250 that I purchased off eBay, it looks like new and will be installing it today. I may decide to keep the HR20 after all, and put the 2 side by side. D* has to know that the HR20 is dropping recorded shows - how could they not. When I call to complain and activate the HR10 I will insist the $5 a month is waived on the HR20 - since it doesn't work as a DVR after all - it has dropped every recorded show since Sunday!
I hope the installer brings a wb68 with him!!!! I actually bought one off eBay yesterday for $30. The reason I called the installer back is b/c the first guy wrapped a ball of duct tape around my existing post to make the AT9 fit - it truly looks like crap!
Anyway, if all goes well I will have and HR10 sitting next to an HR20 with dual tuners active on each, with the DirecTivo in the master bedroom also on 2 lines instead of one by the end of the day. Wish me luck!

I had a similar issue, although with two series 2 (non hd) receivers, and resolved it by DISCONNECTING all other receivers while running the guided satellite setup on each receiver individually (then disconnecting it and moving on to the next one).
Don't know why it worked, but it did.

I would bet the installer disconnected the HR10-250 from where ever it was connected in.
