View Full Version : How does PQ and features on H20 compare to Samsung TS360?
I have a Samsung SIR-TS360 that I use for my STB for DirectTV HD, etc and it has worked very well over the years. Dependable workhorse delivering a good picture quality, etc. But, it is getting older and only has DVI, no ability to do MPEG-4, etc. I'm considering retiring it and getting a replacement such as the H20. How does the H20's picture quality compare to the Samsung 360? How about other things like the GUI, etc? How well does the H20 do on OTA?
Thanks for all insight and comments.

I don't think you'll find too many advantages with your Samsung compared to the H20. In my opinion the H20 has better ....
* Video quality, including full HDMI support
* MPEG4 HD support
* Better OTA ATSC tuner
* Interactive features (when enabled with future software update)
The GUI is a matter of personal preference, but the H20 uses the "standard" DirecTV interface now common across all of their DVRs and Receivers.

I agree with everything litzdog said. The H20 has been much beter than my old 360 in every way.
Thank you for your insights on this. A few other questions:
1. How stable is the H20? Any bugs, etc?
2. Does the H20 have OTA? Does it work well?
3. Does D* charge long time customers for the H20 (and a new dish I presume that would be needed for it)?
Thanks

1. The H20-100 is stable I have had one for a few months and no problems. Some have reported the H20-600 is unstable due mostly to overheating causing frequent reboots. I have only had mine for 2 days, but no problems so far.
2. OTA is very good on my H20-100. I get much stronger signals than I got on the TS360. I have not tried it on the H20-600 yet.
3. I just got the Slimline dish and a second H20 for free. I just logged into my account online and went to upgrade my system and one of the options was a free H20 and 5 LBN dish upgrade. You might want to try this. If you don't have that option you can start calling CSR's and see what you can get.
