View Full Version : Help: Tuner #1 would not acquire a signal while Tuner #2 said 95%
I can use some help with my HR20-700.
My Tuner #1 would not acquire a signal while Tuner #2 said 95%.
I have to RBR a few times just so I can get the setup done.
I have taken off the BBC's, I have switched the SAT line around and the same thing happens. I know the lines are good as I have a DirecTivo right next to it working fine and the lines going to the HR20-700 were from an other DirecTivo that was working fine before the switch.
Is my unit bad? what should I do?

Is this the initial setup?
If so... you have done all the standard steps to narrow it down.
Sure does sound like you have a bad unit.

Yes and No. It did do that on the initial set up but after a RBR it worked ok for awhile. But then I would lose tuner 1 agian. and have to RBR.
But now it is going down hill. It is hard to get it back up and running now.
So what is the best path to get a replacement unit?
Should I just unplug the unit and tell them that it will not bootup anymore.
So I don't have to waste a lot of time with them (send a tech out) just to say it is bad.

I would just call and explain the situation.
Is it a specific channel that it loses it on?

I would call D*, get transfered to tech support level 2. Tell them you have a bad tuner #1 & that you've changed cables & still have a bad tuner #1. You've reset it, pulled the power cord, and you still have a bad tuner #1. It should take them 10 sec. to start the process to send you out a replacement.
If they don't, say thank you & call back... with "the dead" box.

No its not on anyone channel.
It just seems to happen faster and faster now after RBR.
