Well, I spoke with D* yesterday and I am disappointed at their offer. They told me $199.99 plus tax for the HR-20 and no time frame at all for new HD channels.
My wife and I sat down and studied the situation and decided to wait until D* gets at least 30 non-local HD channels to make it worth it. I can currently get all my major networks OTA in HD, so I am going to wait.
I don't watch that much sports except for baseball and Fox Sports (Houston and Southwest) are not available in high-def yet. Also, the alternate channel in this area (KDFI) will be transmitting in HD for baseball (rumor) and D* does not even offer that channel in HD locally yet.
This leaves me a total of 7 channels for $10 a month. To me that is not worth the money, so I will wait probably till Feb 2008 and make another decision after my current contract is up.
