View Full Version : Why delete from List without confirmation?????????????
So, I had my list up and tried to enter channel 8-1 to get my one of my local OTA channels. When I pressed - the first time, I noticed it did not appear in the channel, so I pressed - again. Blammo my episode of 24 is gone....
Why doesn't the HR20 ask for confirmation before deleting?

Why doesn't the HR20 ask for confirmation before deleting?
It does, but not when you use the double dash. That is a quick method for deleting, and it's worth the occasional lost programs for the convenience.

And I hope they don't remove it. I love the dash dash command for quick deletes. It rocks.
Convenience is one thing, but to use a button that is necessary to tune to an OTA station is asking for trouble. At the very least, the box should have been able to change the focus of the - to the channel bar instead of the highlighted item in my list. It had no problem understanding that the 8 was intended for the channel bar and the unit had not yet begun to tune to the new station.

I think you found a bug... Seriously.
I know as a user... in 6 months with the box, I have never tried to change the channel of the PIG, while I was inside the MyPlaylist...

Oh, I didn't even realize exactly what he was trying to do. This does sound like a bug, and it's probably something the programmers haven't even thought of.
I think there should be confirmation also. Instead of dash dash I wish it would be more like the clear button in Tivo which then pops up a confirmation. This is just as fast, two clicks but it is two different buttons and lessens the chance of mistakes.

Do I get to name it? :)
That seems to be the popular thing to do these days, so I say go for it.

It's not just as fast, because it's two different buttons.

So when I am in the playlist and I up arror to the PIG, I can change the channel to 18-1 without a problem.
I take it you were high-lighting the 24 recording?
Not sure if this is really a bug.
Now that I understand that this is a bug, I see the value in the -- delete without confirmation. I just won't be tuning to OTA stations from the list (until the bug is fixed)
I hearby name the bug
OTA Tune From List -- Delete Bug

Instead of confirmation, I'd like to see a "Recently Deleted" section with an Undelete Option. The programs in there would be the first to go when space is needed.

Yes the 24 recording was highlighted. I did hit - twice, because it didn't show up in the channel bar the first time.

I missed CSI-MIAMI last week. I wish the HR20-700 was capable of downloading shows with it online internet capabilities.. If it did that, OH boy I be happy camper.:(

So wouldn't it make sense that action would be taken only on the high-lighted item and not change the channel?

Nice idea, I like it!

Oh you 'Windows' guys, you want trashcans and are you sure buttons...
Just had to put a little humor in since it presented itself...

It's not like we requested a wizard, or clippy asking what we want are trying to do!

I know you were joking, but the idea actually came from TiVo. No, not Directivo. They added this feature shortly before I abandoned all my Tivos for D*.
And I'm not a Windows guy, I'm z/OS first and then Linux ;)

Yes, and in fact that is what it does. I verified this on mine once I read this thread.
When the PIG is highlighted then the - only applies to that window.
Of course if you have a show highlighted and not the PIG then the -- will apply to the show and not the PIG.

Well, I wouldn't call that a bug. It did what you asked it do. It might be nice if it confirmed the first "--" just so a new user is informed that they just found a shortcut!

I beg to differ. If you have a show highlighted and enter a channel, ie 73 it will tune the PIG to 73. If you do the same and enter an ota channel ie 8-1, it will enter 8 in the PIG and apply the - to the highlighted item.

I would most certainly classify it is a "bug"... just something that was never thought of.
Still don't want to see a confirmation screen, but obviously something needs to be done.
I vote for the undelete bucket.

I didn't even know you could change chanell that way...You can also do trickplay on the picture in guide too. Pause, FF, RW. It's handy sometimes.

Yes, with this information, I agree..BUG!

I often use trickplay often with the PIG. Mostly pause while I'm trying to read something in the guide or menus.
The undelete, as stated earlier was a feature of the SA Tivos and was very handy. I've accidently deleted a program from my playlist because of a momentary delay in the response to my button presses.
I scroll down 3 times, it pauses momentarily on line 2, so I hit down once more, then --. Oops, there went line 4.
I've also had it work against me the other way. I scroll down 3 times and then I hit --. If I hit the -- before I wait to see if the HR20 actually received all 3 down requests, I may end up deleting line 2 instead of line 3.
