View Full Version : HR20 and Directv's OTA
I currently have a HR20-700 receiver with an 4 year old $20 ota antenna and i was getting a 5lnb upgrade this saturday but I wanted to get an D* ota antenna installed at the same time, my wife hates the look of the antenna on the top of the entertainment center but is to cheap to get a high priced one. But i was told by a rep in the retention department "that is a whole nother story" that they can't order the OTA with the HR20, they can only order it with the H20, has anyone else heard of this or are they BS'ing me

Sounds like BS.
December the OTA was activated on the HR-20, so maybe this CSR has been on vacation since before then.

I ordered the D* OTA antenna when I leased (2) H20s. When I replaced one H20 with the HR20, all the installer did was connect the OTA to the back of the HR20. Of course the installer had no idea that the HR20 received OTA until the upgrades came down which activated the OTA feature. The installer was mystified. No one from D* had ever told him...
Go figure.

From what I have seen in my area, Directv will install a small UHF/VHF antenna on the back of the dish with a speacial mounting bracket.
I have a medium size to large Winegard UHF/VHF antenna that I intalled myself separately at the peak of the roof many years ago so I never asked them about an antenna.
i would try calling them back and maybe you will get a different answer from a different CSR.
