I've just upgraded to the HD equipment and programming recently and am fairly new to the equipment side of this, but have a question about the tranponder signal strengths. I currently have a 1000+ DISH with a 622 and two 508 DVR receivers. On the 622, I get really good signal strength on 110, 119 & 118, but on 129 the TP strengths range from high 40's to low 80's - is it normal to see such a range in signal strength? I get all the HD channels ok - I was just curious. Thanks.

40s sounds pretty low for 129... and I would expect lots of dropouts, especially during adverse weather.

I'm in Raleigh, and I am getting 70s-80s on all my 129 transponders. It sounds like your installation needs a little tweaking.

I'm not currently seeing any dropouts, but you may be right. Do you have a DISH 1000+? If so, what are your signal strengths on 118? Do you see a wide range of strengths between the TP?

I don't have my + Dish yet. I am in the process of scheduling an upgrade probably in the next week or so. I could have done it this weekend, but I was busy so I will re-check with the installer next week.

Right now I have a 2-dish solution. I have a Dish500 for 110/119 and a Dish300 for 129. If you have an option, a 2nd dish does give better results... but I still think you should be getting better than in the 40s since you are getting some 80s.

My 110/119 signals vary from 80s to 100s if that helps any. Once I get a + dish installed I can post again if my experience changes and let you know how my 118 comes in.

As for dropouts, I guess it could depend on which transponders are giving you the low signals. If it happens that they are on ones for channels you do not have or watch, then you might not notice. I rarely see dropouts with my configuration, except when we get a heavy rain with those dark clouds in the sky.
