Last month I tried to see if I could lower my monthly bill, but couldn't decide over the different pricing. It was 1/31 and I was told that there would be new promos starting on 2/1 and that I should call to get their new deals. So, I checked the website on 2/1 and saw the DVR Advantage at $49.99. I called last night (actually called 3 different times) just to get a better idea what this promo was about. 3 csr folks and I wasn't getting a consistent package (the totals were different each time!). So I said forgetta-about-it.
I just called this morning and got a different csr and it finally worked out! I finally got my HD-DVR and was able to get the $49.99/mo (DVR month fee is waived) with my current 250 channels, Sirius music, and local channels. I have HBO already and that cost didn't change. My bill will actually be lower! Though I will confirm it when I get next month's statement.
I thought about getting HD but couldn't get the price lower than my current bill - which is pretty high already. Believe me, I checked the HD promo and the $20 HD add-on to the DVR - still not within my budget.
So, don't give up!:)
-- also, the cost of the tuner is $149.99 with a $50 rebate (it was $199 last month). Also, DVR Advantage has an 18 mo w/auto payment committment but it was waived since I was a long term customer. Though I still needed to keep the system for 18mo - not a problem.

I got the dvr advantage pack today . I used to have the top 250 + hdpack + locals + Cw Kwgn superstation. MY bill now looks like this for two 622 hd dvrs:
49.99 dvr advantage pack
20.00 hd pack
10.00 top 250 bonus pack
1.50 CW super
5.98 dvr fee
6.00 additional receiver fee
---------------------------
$93.47
5.84 tax
---------------------------
$99.31 total
I save about $4.00 over what I was paying . It negates the price increase for the top 250 + no increases in price for 18 months. I would of been paying about $122.49 for AEP + hd pack if I would have kept this pack:
89.99 AEP
5.00 locals
1.50 Cw
6.00 additional receiver fee
---------------------------
$122.49 total
7.66 tax
----------------------------
$130.15
A $30.15 savings using dvr advantage pack instead of paying for AEP.

Is the DHPP inclucled in the price you listed I just got my bill that still lists the Gold with 2 622's and it was $104 with DHPP before taxes. I remember the first word we got on the DVR Advantage to get it with the 250 you had to get 1 Premium channel also. I have been trying to log on to the Dish site with no luck. I did go through the Dish Builder and saw where the 250 upgrade for DVR Advantage was $10 but you could also add Showtime, Starz Playboy or HBO for $10 each also. Wish someone could give us all the facts on how the DVR Advantage works at adding more to it and how much the AEP would be with 2 DVR's also.
Can you pay for the 622 on autopay (billed) or did you have to whip out the CC?

I don't lease any receivers as I own my two 622 dvrs. But any lease fees would be in addition to the dvr advantage plan. The plan covers you for one dvr fee and your locals are included. Any additional receivers or dvr fees would be extra to the dvr advantage plan. The lease plan gives you the first receiver free and only charges a lease fee if there are more than one receiver on the account . If you had one leased and one owned then the leased fee would be charged instead of the additional receiver fee.
In my case if you look at it I paid $49.99 for the top 200 pack. Then I added the hd pack for $20.00 instead of the premium pack. I then upgraded to the top 250 bonus pack for $10.00more. If you want to you can then add Hbo/Showtime/Starz ( don't know about Cinemax) for $10.00 more for each premium movie pack.
IF you want AEP for two dvrs then I would not use the dvr advantage pack . Because if you do the math and if Cinemax could be one of the premium packs for 10.00, it would cost me in my situation over 119.99 before I add the extra receiver costs of 6.00 or $125.99 before taxes. It would be cheaper just to upgrade to AEP .
For example with AEP + locals + Hd pack + add rec. fee.
89.99 AEP
5.00 locals
20.00 hd pack
6.00 add hd receiver fee
------------------------
$120.99 before taxes.
So I don't even think that Dvr advantage pack is possible if you want all 4 movie packs. It would save you $5.00 to just do AEP . If you want to cut the cost of the price increase and stay with the top 200 or top 250 bonus with hd pack then dvr advantage would be a good thing as you save over $3.98 over doing it the old way: top 250 + locals + hd pack
52.99 top 250
5.00 locals
20.00 hd pack
11.96 dvr fees 2x 5.98
6.00 additional or lease fee
---------------------------
$95.95 or ten dollars cheaper if you wanted top 200 instead.
As far as credit card auto pay. You have to have it. That is a requisite for the DVR advantage plan. I don't believe they would give you the discount of $3.98 a month if you were billed for it. They want their money upfront with the credit card.
