I currently have an old (6 years) PC running Twonky and serving pics and music perfectly (except that it cuts off after 15 minutes or so, even though I thought that had been fixed with 120). I just ordered a new HP PC with an Intel Duo Core ViiV chip and Windows Vista.

Here's my question. I would like to keep the old computer right where it is, which is connected to the WiFi router via ethernet, and have the new PC connect via WiFi. However, I want the new PC with its ViiV and 500 GB drive to be the media server for the HR20, and I want to disable Twonky on the old (40 GB drive) PC. Will the HR20 just recognize my new PC once it is on the network and just start reading music and photos from the new PC?

Current Config:
Cable modem:
1. Old PC connected via Ethernet to WiFi Router.
2. Twin of the old PC also connected to the router via Ethernet.
3. Laptop connected via WiFi
4. HR20 connected via WiFi (Game Adapter)

Will be adding ViiV PC connected via WiFi.

actualy the new computer will reconize the hr20 and will just need to be told to authorize it.. you won't have to do anything on the hr20 itself...

When I first set this up, I just plugged the game adapter into my router to set the encryption key, then I plugged it into the HR20, and it connected no problem. Then I ran Twonky, and music and photos appeared. It couldn't have been easier. When dealing with the ViiV PC, is there anything I need to do? I didn't do any "authorization" with the current PC. Will the new PC prompt me to authorize the HR20, or will I have to get into the newtork wizard? (I've never used a ViiV PC or Vista before.)

It should pop up and say it found it..

You could leave your old PC as is and, HR20 will recognize all networked PCs in your network and give you choice of which computer to stream from:)

Cool, thanks everyone. I think I will leave the old one running Twonky, but I will migrate most of the media to the new one because of the drive capacity.

Hey islesfan, did you buy the Twonky or is it the trial version?

You can also remove it and reinstall it very easily and set Twonky so it does not start as a service. If you want to start it, then you can manually start/stop it if you do not want to see it.

However, as stated above, you will be able to select from which computer you want to hook up to.

I want a new PC! Still trying to figure out just what to say to the wife to justify it. Perhaps I should set it up to reboot 3 minutes after she logs in. That probably won't work, she would get the new PC.
