It may be the catch up to live bug, hit the instant replay button and see if the audio dropouts stop.

yeah... seeing it quite often on WCBS. i'm just blocks away from ESB, so i know its not a reception problem. especially considering i have an outdoor antenna. it was really bad during the fedex commercial in space.

EDIT: also, very bad during the coke commercial.

btw.... if it wasn't obvious i'm viewing using an antenna.

In the Philly area (08096-D* locals) getting audio drops, video stutter, and loss of sound (50%) during the commercials.

Anyone else in the Philly area getting this?

Exact same problem here in Indy (Go Colts!). Lots of audio drop-outs and they only occur during the commercials. I'm in Live mode too.

Is the drop outs CBS problem or DirecTV problem ?Good question, although Im not certain how to determine this aside from collecting data from others with similar setups.

I saw several blue screens accompanied by audio dropouts just before halftime in Tampa on the MPEG4 WTSP 10. It wasn't bad enough for me to switch to OTA via my TV's tuner though and seems to have passed. (OTA still doesn't work on this channel on the HR-20).

Are you getting the audio dropouts directly via OTA from HR20 or directly via your TV tuner?

In Dallas, experienced _BAD_ pixelization and audio dropouts since about the 2nd quarter. Flipped to SD and back and got black screen on the HD channel (no searching for signal message, just black). Checked bedroom HR20 which was recording NBC5 HD off the dish and it was also black screened. Watched the rest of the game in SD, no problems.

Funny thing, a tech came just this Wednesday to fix the minor pixelization we have been experiencing on the MPEG4 locals. Thought it was an alignment issue since at another house 2 more of our HR20s are completely fine. Tech said alignment was good, found/replaced a faulty connector, checked the wb68, checked both HR20s, whole nine yards. It seems that the picture problems are only on the new MPEG4 channels. Tech was unprofessional and seemed like a cowboy, wanted me to go on the roof to show me something while it's raining. No thanks. Anyways, he was setting things back up in the bedroom, and he DROPPED the HR20. The hard disk died 10 minutes after he left.

I think in my case it's worth looking into the multi-switch again. We had the attic insulation re-blown and I had to dig up the multi-switch to hook another box up a few months ago. It felt like it was 200 degrees. Another installer once left a WB68 for us, so I might swap it out and mount it on a rafter.

Would have watched via the roof-mounted OTA (from the HR10 days) but they disconnected the diplexor during the AT9 install. Cables are all RG6QS with compression connectors.

First post, probably should have put it in its own thread :)

Was trying to figure this out some more later in the game ...

The audio drop-out problem here was on the MPEG4 WCBS NY HD feed.

If I hit the replay button (as mentioned earlier in this thread) and watch the game a few seconds behind, no audio drop-outs.

Also, I recorded the game, and when playing back the recording, no drop-outs.

I also experienced a lot of audio dropouts during commercials - Seattle KIRO via MPEG4 from satellite. HDMI to TV. Had one brief (perhaps 5 seconds) occurance of bad pixelation, otherwise video was good throughout the game.

Also, I recorded the game, and when playing back the recording, no drop-outs.So what you're saying is that the problem was not with the OTA feed, but the way that the HR20 plays live, right? This is a critical distinction.

I was watching OTA out here on the Left Coast and if there were drop-outs in the audio, I didn't hear them. Generally, other than the deep puddles on the lenses, the feed was excellent.

Carl

I also had audio drop outs during commercial breaks. KPIX San Francisco MPEG4 off satellite, HDMI to Sony tv.

What was worse for me is that 15 seconds before the game ended, my HR20 popped up a message abbout 'Invalid Access Card' and locked up. The message was only visible for 1 second at most. I was able to unlock it by changing channels, but of course because changing channels takes time and there is no Dual Live Buffer, the last part of the game was missed.

Good question, although Im not certain how to determine this aside from collecting data from others with similar setups.

I'm going to guess that it was more likely an CBS issue as I also expereinced this on the OTA HD broadcast using my Dish network vip-622 receiver.

Why would this happen only during commercials?

Anyone using cable or seen this issue with the SD broadcast?
