Milominderbinder and Brott have done a fantastic job creating a site to determine HR20 problem sources. Right now some of the results are eye opening! (But I won't steal their thunder here.)

What we need is everyone to fill out their survey: http://www.sizethis.com/index.php?module=survey&survey=12 even if you are having no problems at all.

Thank you for the tremendous feedback so far. dbstalk'ers are the very best.

Cheers,
Tom

I agree 100%. I filled it out the other day and also checked out some of the results.

On my way to do it now. And thanks to them for the effort. Lets hope it isolates some things.

Well I guess I am dense. I do not understand at all this survey. It asks who installed my system Me, Mix, Professiional which to me is answered with 1 of those 3 choices, but to the right is a row of numbers 1 thru 5 Non Comprhende. Same with all the questions. Afraid I dun get it!

You ain't dense--no one here at dbstalk is dense. My answer is that there are 5 levels indicating the amount of "me" install to "professional install" with a couple of stops in between. If 80% of the installation was done by a professional, I would put down a 4. If most of the install was Directv, rest by me, then the middle choice makes the most sense.

Now, if you are like me, I put myself as a professional--I've installed enough of these that 3 companies have tried to hire me, but I don't want to do this in UT winters! So my answer was a 5.

Does this help?

thanks, yes that does help. Still seems it would have made more sense to merely choose one of the 3, one of the 4 or 5 in other questons. Its very different methodolgy than I am used to. But I am glad to give it a go... thx

This infrastructure was really just put in place one week ago. Rev #2 of this Survey (probably early next month) will be more concise. Thanks for the feedback.

Yes Im not sure how accurate the data is/can be. For things where there are less than 5 answers, I didnt look at 1 to 5 as "rating possibilities", rather I used 1 to mean the 1st choice, 3 for the 2nd, and 5 for the 3rd (in the case of a 3 choice question).

Now we cant rely on everyone doing it the same way, so the data for some of those questions *has* to be skewed/inaccurate.

Hopefully that can be fixed (no knock on anyone that started the survey, just an observation).

;) This will definitely be fixed. I've received some very good feedback regarding what is actually needed with the Survey system. I hope to get this feature change in in the next week.

Awesome. Is there a way we could go back and edit our data? Or re-input it? Id be very interested to see the results (I checked the Excel spreadsheet with the answers, but it was very confusing because of this exact issue).

Im still thinking OTA might be at the heart of the issues, along with putting the unit in standby (you dont know how many comments I got on the cool flashy blue light ring during a (non-superbowl) party yesterday.......why would anyone NOT want that on 24/7 :) ).

Veryoldschool, I don't know you, but I do know several things about you from your posts. Most notably, you are not dense!

And that I'd like to change the fact that I don't know you. So if you happen to be in SLC someday, let me. Lets do lunch!

Cheers,
Tom

Chris, just go back into the Survey and edit or correct your answers.

→ HR20 Site Survey - Finding the Cures (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=78576)

If you look at the results you will see that very few were having problems with the shades of grey. (The results after 554 respondents are in the second and third posts in the thread.) In a future version the labels will be closer to the answers and we should be able to have the number of answers to amtch the questions. For a first draft, I was just thrilled that Doug got this done for us so quickly.

Please everyone: take the survey. The results are already coming in and they are blowing me away.

You bet. If I'm ever... or for that matter if you find yourself around Sacramento....
I'll come out of my mountain hide away, Geoff

PS, if you can't pick fun at yourself, who can? [your friends of course]

Actually as I look at the results, it seems that most respondents *arent* having major issues. And even those that are, they arent occurring very often.

I guess maybe the Sky isnt falling after all :)

Chris, I am happy you went back. There is a trick to handling a Yes - No question with 5 answers. You word your question so that you are filtering on the Yes(1). Any other answer is taken as a Not Yes.

There is still time to take the survey!

Click Here → HR20 Site Survey - Finding the Cures (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=78576)

If you have not taken the survey yet, there is still time. If you have click to double check your answers and see DOug's new Maps and now Historgrams (bar charts) for each variable.

Please take the survey if you ahve not. We have 641 individual respopndents so far. The more respondents, the better the survey results.
