I tried to watch a Star Trek:TNG rerun on G4 tonight and the program guide listing said it was off air, it sure enough was....
I did a point dish on the installation menu and it couldn't get a lock on the satellite where G4 is located...
Other channels listed as off air were actually on air...
This was at 1:00am mountain time when G4 was off air...
I normally don't watch G4 very much except for the occasional star trek reruns...
Anyone else have off air listing in their program guides?

All the ESPN Channels listings had "Off Air" between 1AM-5AM ET, and a black screen. This was aroind 3:30-4AM..I didnt bother to go through the diagnostics, though.
They appear to be doing maintanence or upgrading of many Tps over the last couple of weeks. Various ones have had channels listed as Off Air at that time of the morning.

Turn off the system at night, I don't recommend rebooting your system if Dish Network is making transponder changes!

What exactly is Dish doing that requires them to go "black" on many channels? Also, the guide will read "Off Air" but programming is, in fact, streaming.
If they pull a plug to replace some encoder or other item, you have been warned the programming is not to be depended on to be there at that time.

I was thinking that it might have to do with encoders, perhaps new ones? Could we see an improvement in PQ after all this is done?

I wonder if they will be changing the look of the tv guide?
