I only have a phone line if ordering anything. Shouldn't your recievers have firewall built-in them. Nobody at E* is concerned with international dial-up hackers.

Huhh? The firewall is that E* receivers only call the number E* has programmed them to call and customers cannot download files that would change than number.

The "international dial-up hackers" require (trick) you into downloading a program to your PC that takes over your default internet connection so that you dial their "ISP".

Now, think about it.

How is a hacker going to get this program onto your receiver (was PC) ??

No, I'm not getting a program downloaded to a PC. But think about this phone jack, phone communication, no firewall in the reciever, someone hijacks the reciever, you recieve a satellite bill, charges you didn't know were there.

The reciever won't answer the phone, and it only dials a number that is programmed into it's code. The only way to change that code is via the E* controlled stream. How anyone could manipulate that to their advantage is beyond me. Take into account that there are probably 12+ million E* recievers plugged into phone lines in this country and we've never heard of the problem such as you describe.

By the way, your telephone or telephone answering machine doesn't have a firewall either. If you are concerned about your PPV charges, set a password on PPV. It is more likely that someone in your own household would order PPV shows than having your receiver get hijacked. The HiJacker couldn't even watch the shows because they would be on your TV.

I really hope that you don't believe the scenarios that you're coming up with are likely to EVER happen....
