I have a Dish 500 at 148 degrees. If I wanted another channel that is on 118 degrees, is a another dish necessary?

Most programming is on 110 and 119, which are both on a "traditional" D500. So, you could do a D500 for 110/119 and connect your 148 Wing dish to the DPP Twin on the 500 to feed up to four tuners.

You will probably get a better answer to your question though if you are more specific about your current setup and what additional programming you are looking for.

Yes you would need another dish and a special LNBF assembly, since 118 is Circular polarized KuFSS band.
