0x120 was released on 01-Feb-2007. Many of you have had it for longer than that.
How would you grade the 0x120 software release?

Looks like 0x120 will receive a C+ which is slightly lower than 0x11b

I gave it a "c" just because I haven't noticed any major changes for the better or worse. By hr20 records pretty reliably. The only major problem for me is the audio/video gliches on the ota. But that's been there for a few releases now.

I gave it an A though A- might be more appropriate. Just one time of the remote not working. Am puzzled why the spontaneouse reboots last night in various locales though.

Gave it a "D" since I've had my first two unwatchables with this version and none prior. 0x120 has been a step backward for me.

I gave it a C since it is no better than before. I still have the same unwatchable Leno on Friday night.

Can I give an "incomplete" :). Wow this is hard in some respects--on a true scale of my expectations for a 5th generation DVR...well...need anyone who's had lockups and missed recordings say more?

But then again, I realize how hard the gals/guys at D* are working on the problems. And I was told this release did not fix everything.

I can say I appreciate their efforts so I'll leave it at that.

I appreciate their efforts...but I don't give an "effort" grade :)

The HR20 is not meeting my expectations for DVR performance, and 120 has been no better and in some respects worse than the past few releases. Unwatchable recordings just should not happen.

Only one black screen fixed with an RBR. No lost recordings (that I know of). I've been very happy with it!

B: Better than average, no major problems, but not notably exceptional.

Funny, that was the last day I had any recordings I could watch. :nono2: Ever since no watchable recordings. All have a black screen with the timing bar at the bottom. After a reset they disappear. Lost 5 shows since 2/1. D* is sending a new HR20.

B for me. One lockup and audio was way out of sync on 24 recording, but it was fixed by turning the unit off and back on. I shouldn't need to do that to watch a recording though.

I gave it a D. It didn't record something it was supposed to once. I still get that annoying black screen that I need to reboot to fix. Also, I still can't pad from the to do list. DVRs work differently than a regular student. If a student gets a 95 on a test then he gets an A. If a DVR records the show correctly 90%-95% of the time it gets a D. It really needs to be at 99%+. That is what I expect from a DVR.

Had to give it a "D" as this is the first release that has given me a BSOD lockup and failed recordings.

I have lost faith, and can no longer trust this box to record what it is supposed to...

B for me.
I still have long~~~ audio delay when I use digital audio out to my home theater system and some audio/video drop during play back recordings... But it hasn't missed any of my 20 SL episodes and haven't reset my receiver for about a month...

Still room to improve but exceed my expectation.

C

Its not as bad as others. Still have BSB. Have had trouble with skip to tick/end/start. Recordings dumped from ToDo list. Future History gone, so no way to easily babysit the ToDo list. Network still stops playing music after 15 minutes or so. CIR/autorecord still not enabled. Network control lost occasionally, music will not stop until network timeout.

All of this would lean towards an F, but when it comes to basic series link recording and playback, all series link recordings have worked so far. Therefore, C.

Gave it a B. So far it has been the most stable release of any I've seen, no lock ups, BSB, BSOD, etc (knock on wood), but I have experienced some pixellation, audio drops during recorded playback, and some weird green "blocks" during recorded playback on MPEG 4 local stations, that have never occurred before. Other than that my device has been a solid workhorse (again knocking on wood).

I gave it a "C" It has seemed that the last few days to be having less problems then earlier, I still can only give it an average grade.

These releases have seemed to have gotten worse the longer I`ve used them. Time will tell

Gave it a "C" because all the problems I've had (though relatively minor) happened after it was applied (at 0x11b, performance was absolutely flawless)

I gave it a C as well.

I have had several audio droputs and BSBs with 120.

I was pretty stable on 10b until the last week or ten days when it started to get flaky on me.

Oh no!
Not this time!
Last time I graded a release it jumped up and bit me in the ass!! I'll let everyone else evaluate it!
I'll just say, except for the "red dots" which are "probably" not related to software, no issues to report!

Heh :)

I have had that happen as well. Posting about how a release seemed solid almost immediately led to problems on my HR20.

Unfortunately, the relationship doesn't appear to work both ways...posting about problems doesn't seem to fix them. :)

I voted "F"
Until D* can provide basic, reliable DVR functions I will consider it failed.

Gave it a 'D'. Twice last week, one HD (Leno) and one SD would not play. Last night two HD programs, NCIS & The Unit, Both MPeg 4 Los Angeles would not play. Time line comes up but would not play. No trick key could force it. Recorded
2nd The Unit program from national feed MPeg 2. Played back fine. Have had problems with OTA and MPeg 4. Anyone else having a problem with OTA and MPeg 4? Seems odd MPeg 2 works, would think, of the three, MPeg 4 would be the most stable as it is more tightly compressed ???

I suppose you tried that "Reset Everythign" I think its called.? I wonder if that would help if you haven't. I did it when I first got mine and it cleared up the problems I was having. Sure is bizarre how erratic it is from person to person.

Moslty ok except for the few glitches.

C. No missed or unplayable recordings, but near daily Black Screen Reboots. Get it fixed D*.

Nice poll! I like that you can only vote once and that it is a simple overall grade. Nice! I think it should be a sticky myself.

Gave the release a "C" -- two BSDs requiring RBR, and lost caller ID on latest RBR (how can a reboot cause the loss of a feature...strange).

I voted F.

I'm confused though about the reasoning of some of the votes above. How can a DVR rate anything above an F unless basic record and playback are 100% rock solid?

Ditto for me. Reliability is paramount, and in this regard, at least for my HR20, it fails.

Looks like the final grade for 0x120 is a C+. This is slightly lower than the B- that 0x11b received.

For some folks, their HR20 has been rock solid. Others report "issues". D* is trying to get the units consistently solid for all users.

I gave it an F. is it me or is it every time that DTV comes out with a new release i get the BSOD. This think sucks!!!!!!!!!!!111
