View Full Version : New Customer Question about New Promotion.

OK, so I was ready to install my own (purchased) Dish 622 in January with the Silver Package for the regional sports, but I decided to wait for the new promotion in February. But there are very vague details on their website and their dishbuilder application is horrible because it doesn't allow me to input the way I want to set up my dish.
So basically, I'm a new customer. I purchased my own 622 receiver. But under the new promotion, I should be able to a get 622 for free? That is what I'm assuming when they say no upfront cost. So with the new promotion, I should be able to get a leased 622 on my first TV and add my own 622 on a second TV.
So with the Dishadvantage promotion. I get:
AT200 for $49.99
HD package $20.00
Locals Free?
Installation Free?
Dish 1000 Free?
I'm confused on what or how much is the miscellaneous fees I would have to pay per month. Do I have to pay for lease fee even if I only have 1 lease and 1 own? I plan on signing up for 18 months and plugging it into the telephone. Does anyone have a similar setup as a new customer that knows how much I would have to pay???
TIA

Locals are $5 with a qualifying package like you suggest you would get.
DVRs like the ViP622 each get a $5.98 fee unless you subscribe to the "Everything" pack... so activating 2 DVRs would be $11.96
The first receiver should be included in the cost of the package... but the additional HD receiver would cost you $6 more per month.
Last, but not least, if you didn't connect your receivers to a phone there is a $5 charge per receiver like the 622, but since you are planning to connect a phone that shouldn't be a problem.
The standard installation deal is $49.95, with I believe a credit on your first bill... but you can probably find a promotion that will waive that $49.95 fee.

Everything you said is correct, but it assumes a "regular" ATxxx account. With the $49.99 DDA package he mentioned, locals and the 1st DVR fee would be included.
I'm puzzled with him having a purchased 622 already though. A ClubDISH referral would waive the $50 activation, and you can also get a $50 credit on the bill if you agree to an 18 month commit. But IF he is a returning sub that has been gone 6 months, you can't use the ClubDISH referral and MUST commit to 18 months. No idea if it actually applies, but having a 622 already makes me mention it.

I'm a brand new customer. I bought the 622 awhile back (last year) but I never bothered to use it because I didn't have an HDTV at that time. Now I have 2 HDTV, and want to put the HD receiver to work.
So if I use the DVR advantage deal, from what I gather you guys are saying.
Monthly:
$49.99 for AT200
$0 for locals
$0 for DVR fee for 1st 622 (leased)
$6 for DVR fee for 2nd 622 (owned)
$20 for HD package
$0 for telephone fee (I plan to plug it in)
One time:
$50 installation (unless I have clubdish referral?)
So am I missing any other fees that I should know about?

I'm less knowledgable about the new DVR Advantage program... so as CaBill noted, please adjust for things already covered by that particular plan.... which might be a good deal in your case with multiple 622s.
HDMe was specific about the DVR fee being $5.98 and also listed "additional HD receiver would cost you $6 more" which isn't reflected in your post #4. If you add that $6 "Additional Receiver" fee for the owned 622, and change the DVR to $5.98, I get $81.97 as a recurring monthly cost. There are promos in effect that will get you 10 months of $10/month credits as a new DISH sub and also $10/month as a new DishHD sub, but you need to fill out a rebate form after you get a bill. You can also pick any premium movie for three months free.
The $50 activation fee can be offset with a ClubDISH referral. Check family, co-workers, neighbors for DISH subscribers since they get a benefit also. With or w/o a referral, you have a choice of no commit or an 18 month commit. If you go with 18 months, you will receive a $50 credit on the 1st bill, DHPP ("insurance") for 18 months, ...
Correct me if I am wrong but his second 622 won't be installed free seeing it isn't part of the lease agreement from DISH. The agreement dosen't say anything about installing customer owned equipment.

That's a good point... Depending on where he is located, he may or may not get the necessary free installed equipment that would support his 2nd 622 receiver... If he happens to get, for example, a Dish1000+ installation that includes a DPP44 switch by necessity... then by default he would have support for his other 622 receiver and just need coax ran from the dish to that room... which may already be done mostly if he has a pre-wired home.
Otherwise, he may need to haggle with the installer on a price to hook up that 2nd receiver OR he could do it himself later.

You aren't wrong, but I wouldn't expect him to have to pay for it either if he is only getting a single 622 with the new install. He should have no problem adding a 311 in the room he wants his owned 622 located to get the cable run from the dish. Seems silly to wait any length of time to cancel the unneeded 311 and ship it back, just to replace it with his 622. This assumes he has the needed separator etc. It makes the most sense to just tell the installer about the 622 and have him phone DISH to get it authorized (HE needs to get paid for it). If all you want is two 622s, and DISH makes you purchase the 2nd, getting the purchased one installed with the initial leased one should be doable. If you lease a 622 and a 211 (consuming a DPP Twin), the purchased 622 may have added install expense. I'd say the purchased 622 install could be free, but might not be.

If you have been an "everything" customer for 10 years, and you ask them to cut off your service, they will give you two 622's at no cost.

Looks good! I'm going to be upfront with Dish and the installer about the 2 622's.
