View Full Version : Unsatisfactory "Lost" recording

So I set the HR20 to record "Lost" on a series link. The To Do list this morning showed two episodes: a "recap" episode at 9pm and the first new ep at 10 pm.

When I got home, a little after 11pm, I tried to watch the recording. A half hour into the recap episode, the announcer says "A new episode of Lost starts right now". A few seconds later, the playback paused and the "Do You Want To Delete This" box popped up. I tried several replays, but even though the summary says that an hour was recorded, it would only let me play the first half hour.

So then I went to the 10:00 recording. It started in the middle of the new episode, and again, after half an hour, displayed the Delete option box, again with the indication that an hour had been recorded.

So I've saved the two programs, but I'm not optimistic that I'm going to get to see the first half hour of the new episode on the HR20, and I'll probably need to watch it on the Internet at ABC or on iTunes. Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks.

The recap show was a full hour long, not a half an hour. I think that might be part of the problem.

Only thing I could provide would be a recap of the episode for you, but I don't think that's what you're looking for...sorry.

I had one HR20 that recorded the new Lost episode fine, but the other unit showed up as a one-hour blank video recording. The time bar shows an hour, but no video or audio. The recap show just before it shows up fine.

Thanks goodness for redundancy.

Mine managed to record both episodes just fine. Playback was marred by several audio and video dropouts, in both cases about half way through each episode.

Did anyone else do a few replays when they showed Kate in the swimsuit/underwear on the beach in the first 10 minutes of the recap show? I wonder if D* stores info on that stuff like TiVo could? I wonder how many other guys did a few replays on that scene? I also did the slow mo :)

I also couldn't get the Lost recordings to work... showed up in History as partials... nothing in the recorded list.

Similar here; the recap video was about 10 seconds out of sync with the audio. The video seems to skip and slow durning playback. The actual show was ok, but there were noticable dropouts.

Glad I'm not the only pervert :D

That is the real reason for the "pause/slo-mo" function...isn't it.;)

As a CE downloader I felt it was my duty to test this function....

Now I'm just ready to give it a real work out on those great Fruit-Of-the-Loom womens "apparel" commercials.:)

Sounds like you has a service outage for part of that first recording.

Very strange. I've studied the problem further. It looks like it recorded only the last half hour of each of the two episodes, but reported that it had recorded an hour, and started playback at zero on the counter, but asked if I wanted to delete when the counter was only halfway through. So I missed the first half of each episode, even though the HR20 reports that it recorded the whole show properly for both of them.

I don't suspect a service outage; it seems highly unlikely that the service would be out from exactly 9-9:30 and then from 10-10:30. Also, if there were a service outage, I would think that the counter would only show half an hour of recording, rather than the full hour.

I do suspect that the whole episodes were recorded, but there's a playback problem where the counter isn't synchronized with the actual file time. So I'm hoping someone can suggest how to recover the recorded data.
