So this POS didn't record My Name Is Earl or The Office last night. Til Death and The War at Home recorded fine though. Earl just gave me a black screen and FF wouldn't get it going, The Office was stuck at -:30. I noticed this at 8:45 and I could watch The Office live and it showed in the buffer but I couldn't rewind or jumpback the buffer even after cancelling the recording that was still ongoing. Scrubs abnd CSI both recorded alright at 9:00 but I don't know if cancelling the recording of The Office had anything to do with that or if I left everything alone that Scrubs wouldn't have recorded either. Also the rest of the night I couldn't jumpback or skip ahead 30 seconds, I could FF, rewind and pause though. I was on the national release so yes this belongs here.
At 11:00 I downloaded the new RC and this morning the Earl recording was gone from the Playlist.
On the good news front, the red dots on ABC channel 7 have seemed to go away during Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
Had the same problems as you did with My Name Is Earl and The Office. Also, Grey's Anatomy and CSI didn't record. That's four shows with zero recording in one night. I've never had this problem before.

Oddly enough it recorded Lost, Earl, The oFFice, and Survivor without a hitch. This, after screwing up every other recording for about the last month.
I certainly hope the 'hot streak' continues.
Sorry that happened NYSmoker, that truly sucks and I know how you feel.

I still was able to watch them, my DVR40 recorded them both in the bedroom, just not in HD. I learned the hard way to have a backup, as sad as it is that we need a backup.

I also had the same problems last night I had to do my 3rd RBR in less then 28 hours.
I was planning to anyway, but in reading all this stuff I'm going to keep my no-HD dvr recording everything after I get the H20. Rather watch in sd than not at all.

I got the Instant Keep Delete message on O'rielly Thursday night the sad part is it seemed to be working great after 0x120 was updated to it - bummer.
How can DTV put their name on this garbage of a recorder!

Here are the five questions to ask if someone is reporting serious problems with their HR20:
1. Do you ever have Native Mode ON.
2. Do you use HDMI?
3. Do you have more than 30 Series Links?
4. Do you use Autorecord?
5. Do you ever turn your HR20 Off (Standby)?
In the HR20 Site Survey - Finding the Cures (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=78576), no respondent who said NO to these five questions had replaced their HR20.
Do you have any Autorecords?
Do you have more than 30 programs in your Prioritizer?
If you totally missed recording a show, check History for conflicts. Also, do you have the Series Link set to record Both or just First Runs. Because of the WI Bug (Wrong Info), D* receivers often misinterpret the channel 100 guide info. The workaround is to set to Both.

I haven't replaced my HR20, it works more often than not, but when it doesn't work it sure picks the wrong times.

Mine missed ER last night. Only my 4th missed recording in 5 months. It's still in my To Do List today.

You might want to:
1) read the "unwatchable recordings on command" thread
2) if you can, go over all of your cable connections with a 7/16 wrench, and see if they are "snug", meaning not TIGHT, but snug to their mating connector. Most installers only use the hands.
My POS HR20 also missed the season premiere of Survivor! It gave some stupid excuse that the Guide data had been changed and thus it was cancelled (NOT by ME!) Thankfully, my trusty six year old DSR6000 caught it as a Suggestion!
D* so smugly annonced that their DVR would "be better than TiVo!" Obviously NOT! A DVR is supposed to *RECORD* programs. Not make up excuses why it DIDN'T!
Keep it up D*! This POS leased receiver will be at the bottom of the lake, and the cable company .. who I swore I'd NEVER go back to 12 years ago .. will be my new provider! Get TiVo back in the fold or after 12 years and some $18,000+ paid to you, I'm gone!!
