Tuning HBOHD causing 721 on other channels

Installed my HR20 on Monday, and I've since had multiple problems. When I tune to HBOHD (on either 70 or 509), I'll end up losing other channels on my other receiver. Some of the channels that drop out are HBO2/HBO2W, HBOFamily/HBOFW, and Sho/ShoWest. If the passive tuner is recording HBOHD, then the live tuner on the HR20 also loses those same channels. It usually comes up as a mix of 721 or 771 messages. The channels restore when the tuner changes from HBOHD. This failure is repeatable at will.

Second receiver is an SD-DVR40
Both BBC's are installed
3LNB Oval dish, signal strengths test in the 90's
Zinwell SAM-3402 3x4 multiswitch

My first suspicion is that I need to replace the multiswitch with a WB68. Will DirecTV send me a switch, or am I on my own to buy one?

You need a new multiswitch. The 3x4 switch cannot properly switch the signals from the 110 & 119-deg satellites, which carry most of the HiDef channels. Replace your 3x4 switch with the Zinwell WB68 and connect all four cables from the dish's outputs to the multiswitch's satellite inputs. Then you'll have 8-outputs for you various Receivers or DVRs. Or, if you four outputs is sufficient, you can forget the multiswitch and just connect your equipment directly to the dish.
